So, the big tire chain on the island thinks we are idiots.. Walked in there today and was very clear about what I wanted and needed. What I was handed was a price that was DOUBLE of what it should have been.... Then the sales guy tried to justify all the fluff and tell me he could being in something from the warehouse in a few days and save me 80 bucks!! TOO LATE!!! YOU LOSE!!! NEVER AGAIN!!

I have echoed these same sentiments...
Mr. Tire is a big rip off, they build the price of their "on the rim and out the door" into the tire.
Tires cost double what the other guys cost.

We had purchased front brake pads for my car for a friend to install but he never seem to have time to do it. My husband called them to see how much it would be for them to install them. They gave us a quote of 160.00. Called the local goodyear place they were almost 3/4 of the price less, plus the customer service there is always great.

I"m not a fan myself of chain auto repair places, and that's all I got to say about that.
I was wondering......I thought the powers to be were/are frowning upon criticizing businesses on the site, hurting current or potential advertisers. It is a "recommendations" post spot, I guess it can be a "I don't recommend it" post.
What's the protocol on this? We need a ruling.....

Island Tech What type of cars do you prefer, and do you have a shop? I am looking for somebody rather than the dealership.

I do work out of my house on the weekends and weeknights. Let me know what you have and what you need! I also have references!

Go see Dobie over at Western Auto, good folks, shore people. He'll hook you up with some tigerpaws. They're great tires for half the cost of 'designer tires' like Michelins. -DG

Omg yes. Ill tell you what theres a lot to be said for local business that are owned and operated by folks that are local like your neighbors and friends. They actually care about you and what you have going on. Our local economy really suffers when local folks start choosing these huge corporations over the local business's that are owned and operated by people that actually live, work and are raising their children in your community! ya know ive seen little league baseball teams sponsored by Willis tire and for Parks tire but I've never seen any for MrTire.

I shopped there for 30 years but will not set foot in that crap hole again.

Mr. Tire states they will honor competitor's coupons, but they don't tell you that they have a list of the competitors. Michelin had a coupon/deal recently and Mr. Tire said they couldn't honor that price.
