I am thinking about getting an inground pool put in. Anyone know the best companies to get estimates. Also, what kind is better? Cheaper? Concrete or fiberglass? I am sure my dogs will be taking their swims, so I don't want vinyl. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I sent you the number via private message. Just tell Jerry that the American Legion Post Commander referred you to them!

Jerry Lay from Swimming Pool Consultants came to my house yesterday for an estimate. First of all, thanks eine for sending me his info. Second of all, he was the nicest man. He struck me as very honest and concerned with his projects. He lives on the Island has done many pools in the area, and 3 in my neighborhood. If we go ahead with this project, we will definitely go with him. My husband called Anthony Sylvan pools for an estimate, but after reading comments on consumer affairs, I don't want any part. Jerry only does concrete pools (and with dogs that like to swim, I have to go with that), and said it would take about 3 weeks in the fall to get mostly everything done. They come back in the spring, spray the plaster, fill it and you are swimming in a week. This way, all your grass grows back and landscaping gets down. Now to find the dough!!

Hey there !! If you want more than one Estimate, my husband is a Local Fiberglass Pool Rep, Not only does he sell them, He can do the ENTIRE Job start to finish, ie: Dig hole, put in all pool and equipment, Finsih the decking around the pool and home improvements and he is local to Kent Island as well !!!! Call him for details if you decide that you want a second Estimate !!! Ben 410-440-3152 BY THE WAY You DO NOT have to have a Concrete Pool for DOGS !!! Just FYI !!

Thanx, we talked about fiberglass, but as I understand, because we live so close to the water, and the water table being so high, concrete is the best decision. Thoughts?

I have seen several concrete pols crack because of the high water tables. The fiberglass pools seem to have some flexibility. The county wouldn't allow me to put in either. I had to replace my above ground pool with another above ground pool. Sucks.

Oh no! Man, I hope they don't tell us that! But there are neighbors that are closer to the water and have inground pools. But before this happens, we have to see what the bank says!!

We live right on the bay. My hubby put in a fiberglass pool two years ago. You are right, they have much more flexability. I have never heard anything negative about them and the water table !! They are great pools !! Go to CPCpools.com and are what he sells if you would like !!!
