well if you're white you can forget about doing delivery....I hate that place with a passion. I will never eat there again so long as Tony Wong owns it. I also noticed their sushi rolls got considerably smaller about six months after they opened and their prices went up. I am not a fan of paying that much money for rice and raw fish. I would rather eat at the Cultured Pearl in Rehoboth, or Yin Yankee in Annapolis, they're way better. and btw, there's a NEW sushi place over by Luke's Grille... go check that out!

Prior posts suggested the owner is a racist---against white folks. Racism comes in all sizes and shapes and colors.

sometime's i'm too lazy to log in...
I know it's a fact he hates white people. He thinks Americans are fat and lazy. He told several other employees I was too fat to work for him. He is a pig and I'm sorry he feels that way. Cultured Pearl in Rehoboth is run by a nearly entirely white staff. Even the guys rolling sushi are white. The owner is a white woman. Outside the stereotypes, I'd say.
It's a shame that people come from other countries to share the American Dream but are so reserved about Americans. I am not skinny by any means, but I work and I work HARD for a living.
I won't ever eat there again. It's not worth it to sit in a restuarant and eat food made by a man who can take a white man's dollar, but can't give someone a chance just like he got when he moved to this country.
Sorry about the rant.

I know of plenty people who move here for the "American dream" but hate us Americans.
There is a place in the 21638 zip code that makes pizza and the owner is that way
Call us lazy and many times says "stupid Americans"

Check out this week's Kent Island Update page 7..."meet our chef from Guadalaja and Margarita, "Mago" Alacorn our Manager from Mexico City". Like they are celebrities because they are Mexican.WOW. Guess all those stupid and lazy white people he has had running the place are now gone. I think Tony and the owner of R's are on the right track, don't you?
I hear Pizza Hut will now be run by the Mafia Big Bats will be managed by Cal and Billy Ripken Annie's will be over seen by Elsie the Cow Luke's will be controlled by "The Force"
R's has "finally got it right' because the hired Mexicans to run it.Strong message. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Like I said, I went to the Cultured Pearl, a SUSHI place in Rehoboth owned by a white woman - guess what, all the sushi chefs are WHITE. And their sushi is TO DIE FOR!!! I think Authentic, R's still isn't very good. Ate there not so long ago and it made me ill, the chicken nachos sucked, and every time I order a chimichanga, I get something different. So I don't think there's any message other than that place is DOOMED.

You know me and several friends eat there multiple times a week, since they opened... I remember on their first weekend when they only had 3-4 menus... their sushis prices have decreased dramatically, and I can be stuffed for around 20-25 bucks with high grade sushi... Tony treats us very well... it happens that he had an original staff that provided sub-par service for the establishment he wants to run... I liked the people there A LOT... as friends, not as employees. At first I was upset to hear what happened there, but now I understand it fully... On many occasions Tony has talked with us for extended periods of time, especially during lunch. With over 120 meals there... weve only had 1 bad experience with the quality of the food.

Perhaps things have changed in the oh, say, three weeks he's had a new staff. I still won't go back. And he probably reads these bulletins. What he did was unethical and unfair - he should have told that staff what was going on instead of letting them find out that he was hiring from an ad on Craigslist. Everyone thinks they know the story, but there's so many different sides.
I don't like him, and I won't eat in his establishments.

Well after reading all the posts regarding what REALLY happened at Cafe Sado I find it difficult to remain silent. As an insider to everything, first of all, I have to say the staff there was superior. When asked to perform beyond what their job description was they went over and beyond even remaining there till 3:00 am more than one time, long after Tony had gone home to bed, to make sure that the restaurant passed the Health Inspection and to make sure every thing was covered for the bombing of the restaurant for the ongoing roach infestation. Were they without fault? Of course not. But, when it comes to a dedicated staff eager to come to the job they all enjoyed, they gave it their very best and to say the customers were not satisfied? Absolutely not. When other restaurants in the area were suffering Cafe Sado's numbers steadily increased. Everyone took pride in their job. Were they a family? Is it a crime to enjoy the people you work with? Sub-par service? Did this person bring it to anyone's attention that he or she felt this way? The employees had a following and truly enjoyed seeing familiar faces Their hospitality and eagerness to please the public was obvious.
No one here can know exactly what happened as it is all hearsay. Were any of these people at the meetings that went on? Do they have inside information that is not hearsay? Manager not doing the job? Really? Are there not two sides to every story and the truth lies somewhere in the middle? Perhaps "authenticity" also means "dollars". Think about it.
So much is simply speculation and very off base as to the true heart of the matter and what really happened. The bottom line is this was a wonderful group of people who loved their job and strove to make the restaurant the premier restaurant on Kent Island, and they did it for themselves, their superiors and for Tony. The restaurant will go on, a new staff will replace the old one and people will continue to patronize Cafe Sado. For any outsider to speculate on what truly happened is that....pure speculation.

While the sushi is wonderful (and the half-price deal is fantastic), I can't help but agree with previous posters in saying that the owner is racist against white folks. My friend used to work there until he was laid off and replaced with a Chinese man. He made the desserts, too, so it wasn't like he went out in front of people to make sushi.
Care to explain the reasoning behind this, sofisaki? I know it wasn't because he was bad at his job, because he was great at it. He worked overtime and came in at the owner's beck and call because that was his dream.
And it was shattered because of racism.

I love the look of the restaurant and the food, but I'm not surprised with all the buzz about racism. I have zero knowledge if it's true or not, but it's an obvious bone to pick if one feels they were an excellent employee and everyone else is of a particular race. I managed a very successful restaurant for eight years and I heard this kind of stuff within the industry all the time. I have a child that is a quarter of Asian descent and it was painful to hear all the comments and stories. It's a shame if it's true about Tony. It's also a shame if it's not and the ex-employee is going by his perception and not reality, but nobody knows but those involved.

We walked out for lack of service last Friday night.
When we arrived and got seated we waited for a long period of time for the waiter to arrive. No waiter. Finally I went up to the sushi chef and asked him if he could get us a waiter. Finally one arrived and hurriedly took our drink order. After a long wait, the waiter brought the drinks and stated it will take 7 to 8 minutes for our order to be prepared. During the wait, we finished our drinks and watched for the waiter to signal a refill. He finally showed up crossing the restaurant and my wife signaled him by holding up her glass. He just kept going. This happen twice. So, we patiently waited for our meal to arrive, drinkless. Meanwhile, the table of four next to us ran out of room on their table for their wine and empty glasses. Since we were two at a table of four they placed their wine and empty beer glass on the edge of our table. That really was a surprise to us . . . but maybe this is Cafe Sado, I mean obviously they were full of empties on their table (or maybe they were simply rudely impolite). Either way, after a ridiculous period of time, it was clear our dinner had been forgotten and our waiter missing. We gave up and headed for the exit. As I passed the sushi chef I told him we were leaving and that to let the waiter know. Down the stairs we went only to find the waiter in the bar socializing with the patrons. We told him we were leaving and he said nothing and ran upstairs fast. When I got outside I realized that I left my keys on the table so I went back to the table. On the way, the waiter was telling the sushi chef that he didn't care about this. . . I though if he doesn't care, well, I guess I don't care about Cafe Sado either.
My wife said she would rather go to Annie's anyway. Later she told me that there was no toilet paper in the ladies room which caused quite a commotion with everyone in there. I got a kick out of that thought.
To be fair to them, other people were there enjoying their dinner. We simply fell through the cracks and, as a result, we will never go back.
I email them privately to let them know I am going to post a review on Yelp. Maybe that will help them resolve things and improve their service.
