Hi,
We are Coming to Kent Island Aug.4. What I have read is that traffic crossing the bridge is very bad. Our plane lands at BWI at 9:50 in the morning. Any suggestion. Should we stay is the Baltimore area, or should we try to cross the bridge at that time?
Thanks!

You should be okay by 10:30. Your only problem will be finding a hotel in and around Kent Island. It might be easier and cheaper to stay in Annapolis. Downtown Baltimore is nice but expensive again.

Yes, if you don't already have hotel reservations (and need them), it may be difficult. That is the weekend of Thunder on the Narrows. I made the mistake of scheduling a family reunion that weekend without knowing it and most of my family members ended up staying in Easton.

I do have reservations at a condo on the island. I had read that the traffic was really bad after 10:00. We wanted to stop in Baltimore before we went across the bridge, but didn't know if we had enough time.

SATURDAY Aug 4, yes, traffic COULD be terrible, If it were me I'd spend the day up that way and head over here around dinner time.

Better yet. Go around the Bay, and avoid Kent Island all together.

Don't be scared away, Most of the time the traffic situation is over exaggerated. You can always avoid the whole 97 to 50 situation and come down route 2 from the airport it will bring you out right after the Severn River Bridge and at that point you only have about 7-10 miles to go if that. Also once you are around here you can call the 1-877- BAY-SPAN

Really, it's a roll of the dice. There are weekends when the traffic is nil, and there are weekends when it backs up for several miles. If you had internet access, I'd suggest looking at trafficland.com and checking out the camera overlooking the tollbooths before headng towards the bridge: www.trafficland.com/#city/BAL/camera/2254I'd also suggest that there's so much to do in either Baltimore or Annapolis (much preferred) , that relaxing for a while until evening when traffic is usually lighter(est) would be a nice alternative. Lived near Annapolis most of my life and my wife and I can still find enough to do there for a weekend without starting to get bored.

Yeah, roll the dice, have a nice afternoon in the Baltimore/North AA County area, or sit in traffice for an hour + Saturdays have been a nightmare from about 10am up to 2, 3, and 4pm on recent Saturdays. been there, done that.
