It sure doesn't look ready. Supposedly they will open next Thursday; other schools will be on time. See school website for detals: www.qacps.org

Contrary to what the Bay Times reported. Apparently the photos were staged. From an 'inside source' (sounds clandestine don't it?) the stainless table in one photo is hiding all kinds of unfinished stuff behind it by propping up a piece of another table across the back.

That's funny, BlueMule. I thought that was an odd photo. With all the new stuff in a new school why take a picture of a table? Leave it to the flunkies at the Bay Times. It would be a refreshing change for them to actually look into anything they print rather than just reporting what they are told.

They're still stringing wire. They're up in the ceiling struggling with HVAC. Incomplete computer networks because 'drops' don't exist where they're supposed to.
A couple of shiney lockers and a stainless table in the kitchen doesn't make for a finished school.
I wonder if the General Contractor is going to be penalized for coming in late with the project. Or did the late delivery come from the project becoming a 'moving-target'... AKA lots of change orders 'cause the design was 'lacking'?
Gotta ask too, where was the project manager from the Board of Education?

I've heard the building guy from the Board of Ed speak at meetings and can barely understand what he's saying. But since the Board decided the school wasn't safe to open, which I'm sure it isn't, they probably can't penalize the contractor.
Presumably the Bay Times people were wearing their blinders as usual and couldn't see any of this mess when they were doing their "report."

Perhaps part of the problem is that they didn't even bid the "Multimedia Equipment" for the school until July. When I saw that on the BOE website, my first thought was that there was no way they could award the contract, get the equipment ordered and get on the contractors schedule by August 27th. Not sure why this was not bid with the original project. The food services equipment was also bid seperately and not done til a few months ago.
My experience with the BOE is that they are in a world of their own and don't have to answer to anyone. I hate to disappoint them, but they work for the citizens of this county and I'm curious to see how many upper managment people at the BOE bail out when the elected school board comes along and hopefully holds them accountable to the citizens of QA County.
The BOe also seems to prefer to scramble afte the fact than to be proactive and plan for the future.

After all is said and done though, it isn't really going to matter one bit, because it involves a school and the Board of Education. We have to spend as much money as we can on super great schools and all the stuff that goes along with them.
