If they have to start sending the freshman to Matapeake because the school has too many kids, shouldn't they have another sports program for the freshman? I mean it seems like there isn't enough room for the kids that try out for the teams

I think they are still able to do the sports, if not it would seriously handicap the KIHS Athletics

But I am saying that there are so many kids trying out that even the good kids get cut. I just don't think it is fair that there are only a few spots open with so many kids trying out. I think it is so good for kids to get into sports during school. It keeps many of them out of trouble.

If the good ones are being cut, it's for the better ones to play. Double check that comment, I saw at least twice in the last 4 years where kids quit and told Mom & Dad that they were cut..... Their secret didn't last too long. There are some outstanding players on the Island.
The High school needs to be added on to like YESTERDAY. It was too small before the finished building it. They are building/have built bigger schools for the younger grades, they will be in high school shortly!

I sat there and watch a good part of the tryouts. I know for a fact that my son was one of the better players (not because he is my son... I know how that sounds). My son has been playing since he was 6 yrs old, has always been one of the top players on his team, and was called by the people that sign up kids for the select travel team. I am not trying to start any trouble but it stinks when you know for a fact that your child has a great talent and they get cut. It bothers me a little that all of the parents that know each other and are friends with the coach got selected

I know what you mean, kami. Most of the coaches are fair, but some aren't, and some of the sports have so many kids trying out. If there is time, maybe your son could try another sport. It's a hard issue to deal with, because if you speak up it's taken out on your child, but if you don't they suffer through the situation. Good luck.

Thanks Outlaw I will tell anyone that QA cnty schools are the best! I have a 6 yr old that has been reading everything (like the newspaper) for a year now. My other son has stayed after school many times with the wonderful teachers that offer to help him. I love both schools. I feel bad even saying anything negative about the school but I really feel that he got shorted a chance to play a sport that is such a huge part of his life. Outlaw thanks again. You did make me feel better

Well I guess it was a let down at the time she got cut but it sounds like she did really well for herself. I am sure that is from good parenting The kids had to run a mile in a certain time yesterday to see if they could be fast and my son was one of the fastest ones I saw. I would understand if he wasn't that good but he is known for his hat tricks (3 goals in a row) almost every game for indoor and outdoor.
