It really is sad. Did you notice the picture "Trees for your future" sign right next to the gibson's grant field with the dead evergreens and funky neon retention ditch? Sad.

Here is a better view of the crazy color in the retention ditch.

You should send this to the commissioners....maybe their hearts will grow two sizes...like the Grinch's heart... I liked both the videos....the Tribute and the Good bye. Its sad...that the "stop the growth" fell on people with ears made out of money. Barb

I haven't watched the video (on lunch)... but that water's clean, hence the color. Surely, it's not as ugly brown/grey/green as the bay or local tributaries, but that's OK... give it time. The color of clean water, generally, is a beautiful thing. OTOH, and to be fair, I dread watching the video if it does more than show clean water.

I am used to seeing water that color in the carribean, and gulf coast. Doesnt seem natural on Kent Island, to have an emerald blue retention pond.

It's fresh, clean water - mostly groundwater when that pic was taken (i'm guessing). It will silt in, grow algae and bacteria, get all kinds of normal color real soon - indeed, I'd be surprised after last night's rain, if it hasn't changed color, at least temporarily to a silty yellow-brown. It takes a while to change over, depending on rainfall frequency and intensity. Not to mention the coming migrating birds who will be all over a pond like that.

water gets it color from the reflection of the sun/sky - if the sky was clear & blue - well i could see it - being that it is clean water and all...
mikey - liked the videos - well done but let's also keep in mind.... (oh i'm really going to hear about this comment...) that we haven't lost the beauty that kent island has to offer - just the other day i was at terrapin park - the walk back to the beach was AWESOME! the beach itself - PITIFUL!! and that's "us" that leave that trash...
