Thinking about opening a Honda specialty repair shop. Just wonder if there are already to many repair facilities on the Island.
Any advise or suggestions are welcome.

"foriegn auto specialty" really isn't all it used to be.

Only Honda's? From what I can see most mechanics are working on just as many common imports like Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, KIA, etc, as Ford and GM cars. Heck, most of the "imports" are now being made in the U.S. The specialty imports, a.k.a. expensive imports are still a bit different, and "Island Imports" seems to have that corner of the market. If it were me, I would bill the place as "The place" to repair and maintain your foreign car at domestic repair prices, or something like that. Nobody wants to pay a bunch of money to repair a Toyota at a "specialty" place that charges the same price as if that Toyota was a Maserati. Just my $0.02.

I wouldn't want to charge high prices just because I was a specialty shop. It would have to be competitive to surrounding repair shops. Just from what I hear in the business a lot of mechanics who work on a lot of domestic cars find imports different and hard to figure out.

Mike, that's not $2 worth of opinion, even if it is from you. C'mon, make it worth the money. Seriously, a Honda only shop would be tough. Maybe specializing only in Japanese vehicles could work. I've considered opening a shop here for years, but then the thought of starting another business again and the hours involved pretty much keeps me away.
