Anyone else having a terrible time with this new operating system that they just rolled out? Obviously, they hadn't worked out all the bugs before they switched thousands of customers over. What options do we have as far as other providers?

ABB has had some serious issues since that terrible thunderstorm 1-2 weeks ago. Signal strength has been down a lot.
I like the new menus on the cable system though - much better and closer to how Comcast does it. Far superior than that mickey-mouse thing that was there before.

HBO has been terrible lately. A lot of little squares and blank screens. The other channels seem OK. Anyone else have similar problems?

Picture quality seems to be down a bit, even on the digital channels, but I can't say when that started. I dislike the new menus, perhaps because I was used to the old ones. In particular, searching for a program to record and setting the record options is difficult. (and comparing the menus to Comcast is not necessarily a plus Have had several instances where I've received a message saying I had not subscribed to a channel that I know I was paying for. This seems to be happening less as time goes by, but it didn't happen at all before the "upgrade." But hey, one success: the adds at the bottom of the Guide screen work!

I had problems initially with the "your not subscribed" messages. But after their "technical support" sent the box a magic signal, that was resolved. This might be what you need, or just unplug it, wait a minute, and plug it back in.
I've been told that picture quality usually goes down this time of year due to angle of the satellite reception or some such nonsense. It usually improves by late September.
Yea, I already pay for cable service, I could do without the ads.

I have ABB for internet service and have not had any problems.
switched to direct TV 6yrs ago. You couldn't pay me to go back to cable. I really don't know why anyone still gets their TV service through cable; direct tv - more channels, clear digital reception on all channels.......

You need clear line-of-site to the south-western sky for Direct-TV correct?

southern/southwestern. they should be able to tell you when they get there. they can mount on the roof, chimney, etc.

I got the "You do not have access" page when I turned on "Starz" last night. Very frustrating. I've had nothing but problems from ABB...

I cant speak for anyone else of course, but I'm not really interested in having a dish hanging off the side of the house, or perched on the peak of the roof. Unfortunately, I don't have clear LOS for DTV's signal anyway, so I'm stuck with ABB.
I'm generally satisfied with their TV service, although IMO the new guide does need some fine-tuning. Their internet service leaves a lot to be desired. And their VOIP phone service is a complete non-starter. The "wife approval factor" is very low trying to run phone service over ABB's internet service. Its just not stable enough to ensure dial tone and voice quality will be there when you want it.

Now I got the three-in-one package, internet, phone, and TV. I have had no problems with any of them other than HBO acting funny at times. My phone service doesn't seem any different then before, other than I have no service when the power goes out. So far, I'm still pretty satisfied.

Concerning the message that you do do not have access - the tech person from atlanticbb told me to press the return arrow (left of the green list button) and it will correct. (A customer told him that!) We can rarely go right to channel 25 without having to do this.

sailorz--the dishes are quite small and not that obtrusive. you have to take clear view with a grain of salt. picture quality, etc., much better than cable, as is the price.

I had to put my dish about 100' from the house on one of our fence post due to trees. I really don't notice it, and the picture quality is far superior to cable, but to each his own.

But, do the non-DVR remotes have that button? Does it still fix that particular problem. Doesn't matter for me, but others might be interested.
