If anyone is interested there is a new Deer Processing business starting in Centreville this fall. The company is "Emory Creek Processing." It was formerly "Tuckahoe Whitetail Cuts" that was owned by Bart Shortall.

Close enough for me.. we will probably check it out this fall. Your neighbor (Wildlife Artistry Taxidermy) advised me of your plans.
Good luck!

Are you only gonna do processing.... or a little retail on the side when the hunters only want a portion of the meat (hey, it happens, my dad processed deer over 50 years...)
Just curious jonesing for some deer jerky and summer sausage..... ever since Daddy 100% completely retired...I have no connection!!! LOL!!!

I think it's Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry. It's a great program where only approved butcher/processing shops can donate kills to the MD Food Bank to be distributed to shelters and food centers. This benefits both the farmers and hunters who want game taken but may not be able to use all the meat. Plus, because it's wild game, you just can't go and sell it or give it out directly, it has to go through this program where it is monitored. This is fully supported by the DNR and by farmers who see as much as 15% of their crops lost to deer. I am glad to hear that we have a local one who is doing this.

Sorry for such a long delay in the forum. The processing business has been busy so far this year and with muzzleloader and gun season coming soon I hope to be even more so. Thanks a million freefallin for the help with describing the FHFH program. I finally got word yesterday that due to the state cutting there portion of the funds I was still able to get into the program with approximately 30 donation tags. (it's a start). One of the ways it was explained to me by FHFH is that as a Deer Processing business you do not have to be inspected, insured, licensed, ETC... However through the FHFH program I am inspected, insured, Very clean, and partners with DNR for collecting data from processed deer. If any one has any questions check out Emory Creek Processing on Facebook. Also T-shirts for sale $10.00 a piece (only have a few left) hopefully the remainder of my order will be completed this weekend.
