Hey all! So every morning, in my quiet time, I read a daily devotional: My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. So I got to thinking that many of us may also read a daily devotional. So here's a thread to post our daily devotions... they can be from a book or something we've read in our quiet time. And then we can comment on them or have a discussion about them... *Disclaimer: I'm no expert, I'm an imperfect being that loves Christ*
So today's is based off of 1 Corinthians 9:22 I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. He writes about this: All of God's people are ordinary people who have been made extraordinary by the purpose He has given them. Unless we have the right purpose intellectually in our minds and lovingly in our hearts, we will very quickly be diverted from being useful to God. We are not workers for God by choice. Many people deliberately choose to be workers, but they have no purpose of God's almighty grace or His might Word in them. Let Him have His way.

Today's - same book: Matthew 28:19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations."
The one great challenge to us is - do I know my risen Lord? Do I know the power of His indwelling Spirit? Am I wise enough in God's sight, but foolish enough according to the wisdom of the world, to trust in what Jesus Christ has said? Or am I abandoning the great supernatural position of limitless confidence in Christ Jesus, which is really God's only call for a missionary? If I follow any other method, I depart altogether from the methods prescribed by our Lord.

Missed a few days posting due to ... ahem... home improvement project 28th: Romans 5:10 - For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. When I turn to God and by belief accept what God reveals, the miraculous atonement by the Cross of Christ instantly places me into a right relationship with God. And as a result of the supernatural miracle of God's grace, I stand justified, not because I am sorry for my sin, or because I have repented, but because of what Jesus has done.

29th: 2 Corinthians 5:21 - He made Him... to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Our sins are removed because of the death of Jesus, and the only explanation for His death is His obedience to His Father, no His sympathy for us. We are acceptable to God not because we have obeyed, nor because we have promised to give up things, but because of the death of Christ, and for no other reason. Through identification with His death I can be freed from sin and have His very righteousness imparted as a gift to me.

Today: Hebrews 11:6 - Without faith it is impossible to please Him.
Faith always works in a personal way, because the purpose of God is to see that perfect faith is made real in His children. Faith is a tremendously active principle that always puts Jesus Christ first. Our faith is limitless. Faith is the entire person in the right relationship with God through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

I do something similar. I have a deck of slogan cards, and I draw a new one each day. The slogans are a combination of Tibetan lojong (mind-training) slogans, Biblical quotes, and Quaker quotes. Today's slogan is "Abandon poisonous food", which is about being aware of what we ingest and its effects on us.

John 14:15 ~ "If you love Me, keep My commandments"
The Lord does not give me rules, but He makes His standard very clear. If my relationship to Him is that of love, I will do what He says without hesitation. If i hesitate, it is because I love someone I have placed in competition with Him, namely myself. Jesus Christ will not force me to obey Him, but I must. If I obey Jesus Christ in the seemingly random circumstances of life, they become pinholes through which I see the face of God.

Today's devotional really caught my eye! For those of you who know me, when you read the title of it, you may understand. A Bondservant of Jesus Galatians 2:20 ~ I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. Has that breaking of my independence come? Will I surrender to Jesus Christ, placing no conditions whatsoever as to how the brokenness with come? I must be broken from my own understanding of myself. When I reach that point, immediately the reality of the supernatural identification with Jesus Christ takes place. The passion of Christianity comes from deliberately signing away my own rights and becoming a bondservant of Jesus Christ. Until I do that, I will no begin to be a saint.
***Note: Whenever you read "Bondservant" or "servant" in the Bible, the greek is doulos ***

THE AUTHORITY OF TRUTH
James 4:8 ~ Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
It is essential that you give people the opportunity to act on the truth of God. The responsibility must be left with the individual - you cannot act for him. It must be his own deliberate act, but the evangelical message should always lead him to action. Refusing to act leaves a person paralyzed, exactly where he was previously. But once he acts, he is never the same. The moments I truly live are the moments when I act with my entire will.

Today's slogan:
"Dig deep, carefully cast forth the loose matter and get down to the rock... and there hearken to the divine voice which gives a clear and certain sound." John Woolman

The Unrivaled Power of Prayer
Romans 8:26 ~ We do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself make intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
We know what it is to pray in accordance with the Spirit, but we don't often realize that the Holy Spirit Himself prays prayers in us which we cannot utter ourselves. He expresses for us the unutterable. God searches your heart, not to know what your conscious prayers are, but to find out what the prayer of the Holy Spirit is.

FELLOWSHIP IN THE GOSPEL
1 Thessalonians 3:2 ~ Fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ...
I must learn that the purpose of my life belongs to God, not me. God is using me from His great personal perspective, and all He asks of me is that I trust Him. When I stop telling God what I want, He can freely work His will in me without any hindrance. He can crush me,exalt me, or do anything else He chooses. He simply asks me to have absolute faith in Him and His goodness.

THE SUPREME CLIMB
Genesis 22:2 ~ Take now your son...
God's command is "Take now", not later. We know something is right, but we try to find excuses for not doing it immediately. If we are to climb to the height God reveals, it can never be done later - it must be done now. And the sacrifice must be worked through our will before we actually perform it. If the providential will of God means a hard and difficult time for you, go through it. By going through the trial you learn to know God better.

DISCOVERING DIVINE DESIGN
Genesis 24:27 ~ As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me."
If we are born of God, we will see His guiding hand and give Him the credit. We can all see God in exceptional things, but it requires the growth of spiritual discipline to see God in every detail. Never believe that the so-called random events of life are anything less than God's appointed order. Be ready to discover His diving designs anywhere & everywhere.
