Interesting thing about the Pete case is everybody knew he was a nut case.. A time bomb looking for an excuse. Unfortunately, we don't have any mechanisms in place to put these people in straight jackets before they hurt someone. I still feel terrible and always will about the Xander family and the other neighbors in that community.

This was one of my last chats with Pete before that sad day. To bad it was put in the dungeon. I told him he needed to get a EP before he hurt someone.

Exactly why I said it pete. Seriously, you are a complete mental case that needs help before you hurt yourself or someone else. You need meds!

Deep Sea: I'm sure the Capital Gazette and the Star Democrat are pleased that you link your messages to them, but I'd be careful quoting entire articles. While copyright laws permit "fair use," you may find you need permission to copy an entire article.

"There was never a suggestion or indication Richter ever resorted to physical violence in his attempts to get justice, Tayback said; instead, he was always filing a charge or requesting police assistance."
A true prince of a guy... Hmmm... what about all of his posts here just ITCHING for a confrontation?

A true prince of a guy... Hmmm... what about all of his posts here just ITCHING for a confrontation? Pete never itched for a physical confrontation, just looking for opportunities to tell his tales. He came to a few of our KIO get togethers. He would talk/complain about the QA County authorities for hours. He seriously believed in the system, just not the people administering it. It seems he is claiming simple self defense. Two weeks ago I would have bet money there would have been an angle to the shooting, and he would get off. Not sure what to think now. I guess we'll find out before too long.

Exactly what Frank said... if people took the time to talk to Pete you'd see he wasn't this horrible monster. Unfortunately he got a bad wrap for being himself and exposing people. Richardson hated him with a passion (once Richardson came on here a publicly bashed Pete - but then deleted his posts when he realized how idiotic it was for a public official to resotred to childish acts) and is currently having a field day making out to be this monster that everyone thinks he is. Yeah, he shot someone according to people on here (politco threads) you'd have no problem using your gun if someone was on your property. if it were anyone else, it'd be a non-event.

Not more than 30 years, but could be out in less than 10. But as an ex cop, he got a death sentence! 1 year max is my guess.

Hope he is carried out of the slammer with a toe tag. Hopefully his kiddy porn charges will compound his sentence. This guy was a pariah in our Community spread his hate regularly. Between being an ex-cop and the kiddy porn issue will make his time left on Earth (in the Lockup) a living hell. Could not happen to a more deserving guy.

Yeah, he shot someone according to people on here (politco threads) you'd have no problem using your gun if someone was on your property. if it were anyone else, it'd be a non-event. Unfortunately I doubt my opinion will carry much weight; I've never posted before preferring to remain in the background, reading KIO while living on Emory Circle for the past 13 years. I am a very private person although at times I was tempted to contribute, especially when Mark was murdered last year. But I have long been a witness to the harrassment and insanity deliberately caused by Mr. Richter month after month, year after year. When my boys were very young he would drive slowly around the circle over and over with his camcorder held out the window taping them while they played outside. And yet I always (foolishly) believed he was a harmless bully with too much time and too much rage inside him. However I must respond when someone on this forum writes "yeah, he shot someone according to people on here...if it were anyone else it'd be a non-event". This remark is so shocking and disturbing it literally makes me sick. Whatever the issues were/were'nt about Mr. Richardson, I was here, outside my home on the day Mark Xander was shot in the back and murdered and cannot let this comment go unanswered. IMO, this opinion is more than unseemly - it is dangerous.

Pete's been a time bomb for years. Obviously those who claim him "harmless" are as delusional as Pete. Or maybe they expected to be greeted with tea and crumpets should they take Pete up on his many invitations to visit him in the many posts where others disagreed with him.
While it won't bring Mr. Xander back, nor ease the sadness and loss of Mr Xander's family and friends, and those who were tormented by Pete in the neighborhood, today was a victory. Hopefully they keep this nutcase locked up for a very, very long time.
