A third bay crossing is needed ASAP, and it seems that some of the people running things over here are blocking progress, like QA County Commissioner Gene Ransom who said to the "Star-Democrat":
“I’m laying in front of the bulldozers if it comes to that,” said Queen Anne’s County Commissioner Gene Ransom. “We’re adamantly opposed to a third bridge. It means more development, more traffic. My gut feeling is, we’ll never have a third bridge built.”
Let's be real, another bridge is needed for so many reasons. It would reduce the current backups in the summer, allow medical vehicles to cross to the shore, and allow construction to be done on the current Bay Bridge by having another crossing. It would also be another crossing in a time of terrorism that targets the current Bay Bridge. If something were to happen to that without a back-up, oh man. Hopefully people will realize that this crossing needs to be built for the greater good, and the opposition will stop with the "not in my backyard" mentality and let the right thing be done. Sorry for the rant...!

Where would they build it though? The roads on either side don't link up to the populated areas, so a new highway would have to be built on both sides. We're looking at dozens of years for that alone!

Sorry, but I disagree. I think a third bridge should be built, but not from Kent Island. We are already stressed to the breaking point with summer traffic. A new bridge, miles either north or south would work for me. Let's spread it out and share the responsibility with other counties.

Go Gene! Go Gene!
Build it somewhere else, let SOME of the traffic go that way. We do NOT need a 3rd bridge to KI. No Way. The New bridge needs to be SOUTH of us, Ever been to Chesapeake Beach? they have a 4 lane hwy going almost to the sand on the bay.
MDTA did their study a few years back showing that most of the beach traffic somes from the south.

A 3rd Bridge for Traffic? You're just like those people who live next to an airport and complain about planes flying over head!
We all have to deal with traffic no matter where we live.
I work in Baltimore and can tell you I've spent way more time in backups on the beltway and tunnels than I do on the Bridge. The dirty little secret about the bridge is that it doesn't get backed up all that often.
Sure some sunday nights are bad in the summer, but we stay home most sundays anyway so I could care less.
Sure some Saturdays it gets backed up on the OTHER side of the bridge, but I'm going to Dover so what do I care?
Sure Friday evenings sometimes are bad but if I have the EZPass and know the back roads, chances are I'm not waiting as long as I'd wait on the beltway or tunnel. Or if it's really bad I visit family or shop then come home when the traffic dies down.
Everyone I work with always acts like "Wow, you live so far away" and "the traffic". It's so bad that anytime I'm running late I just say there was an accident on the Bridge and my boss is like "oh, okay".
As far Construction and Terrorism go, you can add that to the "Death and Taxes" saying. Inevitable so we just have deal with those when they come.

We do need a 3rd Bright -- to the south Dorchester or Talbot. Most the traffic comes from the south anyway with the DC'ers and the NOVA'ers

A 3rd bridge for what? to over crowd the already over crowded streets of Ocean City?? Can you even walk on the streets down there in the summer any more? it looks like Manhatten to me!! Build another bridge and where are you going to put all of those people who are crossing it??
if there is going to be another one let a 3rd bridge bring its growth to help fix the impoverished Cambridge and make IT another Kent Island. I heard tale that Trump was looking at land over there, maybe he knows something we don't?

somethings gotta give, we had better be expressing our concerns/ ideas/ other solutions as county citizens or they will start considering commuter only options... like public transportation. Can you imagine what THAT would do to our lovely somewhat safe and crime free area? Take a look at ALL areas within 15 miles of a METRO station...
