PEOPLE>>>>>> SLOW DOWN !! 5:15PM last evening on Rt 18 just past Bennett Point Rd I hit a deer there were 2 of them its just a blur, never had anything happen so fast! I put my flashers on but so many vehicles just whizzing past: OMG slow down Then when sheriff stopped and later the state police (who stayed with me till tow truck came,) the drivers slowed down and even used turning signals to go around me. JUST PLEASE SLOW DOWN thanks for letting me vent have a safe holiday.

I'm so glad you are okay! This time of year I'm also slowing up and taking extra care. It is amazing how many people just fly by. But I have heard that a lot of time the car doesn't hit the deer - the deer hits the car. Again - glad no one was hurt. What were you driving?

I was goin approx 45 mph in a 4 runner, I was just amazed at how fast people went past us while waiting for tow truck. when I see a vehicle with flashers on that tells me there is a problem up ahead & I slow down, guess I'm weird had 2 vehicles stop ask if we had a cell phone to call for help and if we were ok

I'm surprised you had two cops stop. I see them just blaze past cars with hazard lights all the time.

I've been on the scene of accidents with the SB lane of rt 8 blocked with the lights on tending to a patient. People have flown by at 50mph passing using the NB lane to pass the ambulance with lights on. Was inches away from being struck while knelt down next to a patient. (why we block the road so we don't get hurt)

I'm not trying to be a d**k, but if you were inches from being struck, I guess you weren't blocking traffic enough with your bus. Yes, people should slow down for emergency vehicles, and I don't need to tell you... protect yourself. Not everyone looks out for you.
On the other hand, I CREPT past a trooper once who was stopped behind a semi truck, using the clear-for-a-mile opposing lane. He leapt out in front of my car like I was about to run over a baby, flabbergasted and furious that I "didnt see him, and put his life in danger".

Had the entire SB lane blocked. They just flew by in the NB lane.

holy crap emsguru thats unreal I had no idea such idiots out there ... Rob, a QA Sheriff stopped I was grateful his flashing lights would give me some peace of mind I would not get hit BUT he was on way to another call and since it was on RT18 a state police would arrive I thanked him for stopping was ok just shook up, minutes later a state police cruiser stopped THEN and only then all drivers slowed down to go around me except for the 2 who stopped to check on me right after it happened.

I think your bumper would be just as f-ed at 40. You're basically hitting a stationary sack of hard meat and bones. A 25mph impact is going to do damage.

Just don't tell the MDTA, they will put up rumble strips on the shoulders so deer know to slow down when entering the roads, put up pink flags on the trees around the road to keep proper distance from one to deer to the other in the herd, and put up concrete barriers preventing them from entering the roadway but they will be short enough for them to easily jump over.
They may do something crazy like this for deer but I don't think they would do anything this rediculous for any of our bridges or anything....
