Anyone noticing more police out in the mornings on the commute ? I could swear the MTA police used to sleep in their cars in the early mornings, but now they seem wide awake. Recently, I have seen marked cars on the ramp to the bridge. Additionally, the officers sitting in the marked cruisers are not sleeping. Of course, this makes me sad. :-(
Over the last five years commuting to and from Baltimore city I have only seen a handful of Traffic police. But, recently I am seeing more police in the mornings and afternoons. It seems like people are getting pulled over everywhere. Is something going on or am I just ultra sensitive due to a recent citation ?

You're probably overly sensitive to it. I haven't noticed a change, but I come through real early. I did notice a few trucks pulled over by the MSP SUVs today, but no MTA except for the one baby sitting the construction crew.

Gearing up to pay for the new helicopters? >.<
On a side note, I saw a black unmarked cargo van pulling someone over recently, I think I'd have to keep going until I hit a populated area before pulling over for that one.

I don't get the whole MTA Police thing. There is already the MSP who monitor the state highways and are in charge of traffic enforcement, now you bring in duplication of services with a whole other agency that just adds to the beauracracy. The MTA has a narrow scope that is already under the broader scope of the State Police. I just don't see the need to have an agency cover 4.5 miles of bridges and tunnels here and there. I am sure there is someone on here that will blast me about this but why the need? If the MTA Police is also in charge of the ports and airports, what is the Dept. of Homeland Security doing? Then they bump chests about who has jurisdictional authority because every agency wants to do more so they can increase their budgets.

When we drove to Florida, pass thru five states (VA, NC, SC, GA,FL) along the notorious drug highway (I95) we only saw two troopers with cars pulled over. And in many places the speed limit was 75mph. Here in Maryland, I lost count of how many cars were pulled over and the troopers sitting along the side of the road just waiting for a speeder. I guess you could say, all the roads in MD are toll roads??(Ha Ha). It is just a matter of time when you will get your bill.

I think the question about the commute to Baltimore all depends on the route and the time. I take route 2 to and from Baltimore. Ironically, about 1/4 - 1/2 of the cars I follow seem to have KI stickers on their rear windows. Between 5:30 and 6:30 AM the commute to Baltimore is mostly uneventful and smooth. On the way home at 4PM it is mostly smooth, but the traffic is more dense and people like to slam on their breaks a lot more. In the afternoon, there are more students and teachers on the route. Additionally, the shoppers are out, so the extra congestion makes the ride predictably slower. I can make it to Baltimore in 35-40 minutes at 5:30AM. On the way home, I normally average around 45mins to 50 minutes.

Brakes are what you use so you don't crash and break something.

Mrs. got stopped by the wannabes across the bridge, in morning rush traffic, for a license plate FRAME that PARTIALLY BLOCKED "MARYLAND"
WHAT A SORRY EXCUSE of a cop and even less off a reason to do a stop in busy traffic.
Go catch a real GD criminal
