It seems like there have been quite a few closures over the past couple of years. That's not so unusual in this industry, but there have been some pretty established restaurant chains that have closed.
I was surprised to see that some of the full-service chain restaurants in the mall had problems (for example, Austin Grill), since they seem to do pretty well elsewhere. Also, Mamma Lucia, which always seemed busy, recently closed.

Wow! Mama Lucia closed? We went there all the time. The original owner opened the Italian Market behind Best Buy, but I thought the new owner did pretty good.

I went there maybe 3 weeks ago for lunch, and as I approached the door, I noticed the lights were not on. I later called their number, hoping maybe they were just going to remodeling or something, and got a "check the phone number" type of response. They always seemed busy when I went. I wonder what the backstory to that one is. [By the way, the Italian Market owner, Ray Lubrano, apparently passed away a little over a year ago. Apparently, he opened quite a few places throughout the state over the years. He was always nice to my family when I dined there.]
