Any advice as to good flooring, be it hard wood or other alernatives, that would look nice in family room and last? Most afffortable but durable. And any local peeps that you can recommend for this type of work?

imminent sounds like it could be a good choice, the home centers have a large and great selection of all different types and styles all price levels.Me and my wife have done our dining room in a wood laminate with a kinda rustic look,(we are not flooring experts or installers)had it done in a Saturday. We both are very handy with home repairs and remodeling our own stuff,i`m sure you could do it yourself, but if not Abby flooring on Kent Island was very helpful with our project.

We used Kent Island Abbey Carpet and Flooring 6 or 7 years ago after a water leak damaged our floor. Just like Michael stated above they were very good and helpful in explaining the different floor types. Can't go wrong using them.
