We are opening our tiki bar this weekend. We have raked and raked the beach, picked up all the winter debris and varnished the tiki. We have some new seating arrangements and more food choices on the beach will be coming soon. We appreciate your support of our business these last 23 years. Please bring your family and friends this weekend. The weather will be hit and miss. We plan on it missing. Thank you, Dave and Tammy Harper

Thanks for the welcome news. Now, if you folks could fine a way to improve the parking situation, or lack thereof, that would be wonderful.

Well we went on Saturday evening, the plan was to grab dinner in the restaurant then enjoy a few cocktails at Dirty Dave's...tried to get seated only to be told by 2 hostesses they can't seat us because they are no longer taking "walk ins"! This was at 6:30PM!! In all the years we've lived here never once have we had to make a reservation to eat a casual dinner at Kentmorr! I didn't even think the place took reservations! so then we decided to maybe just grab a pizza at the tiki bar...well that didn't happen either! Stood at the bar for 10 minutes and not one bartender would acknowledge us, NOT ONE!! They happily served the people who were seated at the bar but never once offered to serve us! Well that was enough for us, we will NOT be going back, there's plenty of other places on the island who are willing to serve us. I feel this place is like a "club" that only caters to the people who live right in that neighborhood. Looking around I noticed a lot of people who I knew lived there and of course THEY had drinks in hand and a pizza on the table.

I would give it another chance. It was their first day open outside and it was perfect weather. I have been going there for years and yes, some days are slow, but overall it is a great time!

Well to me there is no excuse for some patrons to be cheerfully served while others are blatantly ignored; also I understand there being a long wait time for a table when restaurants are busy and we would have gladly waited, but to be told at 6:30 that they didn't even want to seat us is inexcusable! I could understand also if it was 9PM but 6:30?? Sorry but they didn't want our business they won't get it EVER!

Well you should try again. You are sadly mistaken. I've been there at least 100 times and never had an issue Inside or outside. Dave and Tammy are solid people and I will back them 100% all day long. Opening Tiki Weekend which has been advertised for months to go with great weather a crowd is expected. Didn't know they took reservations ? They've took those as long as I can remember. Sat night at 630 every place is crowded

I am local, about 1/4 mile from Kentmorr and I have never been granted special privileges. I also wait to be served. It is what is is, It's a popular place.

Fri/Sat at 630 is going to be prime dinner time for any good restaurant, 9pm is not. Where are you going on Kent Island that you think it's normal to be completely packed at 9 but not at 630? It's not that they didn't want your business, they just didn't have an empty table. What would you like them to do about that? As for your tiki bar experience, I'm not sure what to tell you. Like any bar you have to get up there and get someone's attention. Yea, it's annoying but that's just how it is. If someone was actively ignoring you I'm sure you could've spoken to a manager about it, did you?

I can only imagine the place was packed! Wasn't this the grand opening? Put that together with great food, fun location and gorgeous weather, I wouldn't have expected anything less. Looking forward to going but I always shy away from opening weekends anywhere on the island.

It wasn't the fact that there was a "wait" that is to be expected anywhere on a Sat at that hour, my point was that we were totally REFUSED to be seated! Them telling me there would be a lengthy wait would not have been a problem it was the fact they clearly would not give us a table! I've just never been ANYWHERE that has refused business like that!

So... what would have made you happy? If they're full they're full, not much they can do about that. You've never heard of a restaurant being completely booked? I would've been bummed too, it's one of my favorite places to eat, but it happens.

So would you rather they lie to you and tell you it's a 2-3 hour wait then just not seat you after all? At least they were honest with you

I would've been bummed too, it's one of my favorite places to eat, but it happens. Happened to us a couple years ago. Place was packed with a line out the door. No reservations available, no tables available, and if I remember correctly, no food service to the tiki hut due to all the demand in the kitchen. We were bummed but we were happy for the owners - it's great to see a local business thriving. It was then that we started making reservations a couple days in advance. A few years ago we went to a restaurant in Baltimore without reservations. Arrived about 5:30 and were told we could wait until 9. To me, that was almost the same as saying they had no tables that night. The only difference is I felt a little insulted that they would assume I would wait that long for one of their tables. It would have been better to just tell me they were full that evening.

I've just never been ANYWHERE that has refused business like that! the next time you fill up your gas tank, pull up to the next pump and fill it up again........ if it's full, it's full, same deal here. Go earlier, or later, or elsewhere, it's easy. I've been to lots of places and been told 2, or 3 hour wait, I get it, I like good food and so do other folks and they beat me to it on those occasions. You were not "totally REFUSED to be seated", they had no seats for you. Period. It's different than what it sounds like your trying to make it out to be.

My friends and I stopped by on saturday around 1. We got seats at the bar and got drinks and served immediately . The orange crushes were on point! Great service and atmosphere. Cant wait to go back this summer. The parking situation is the only thing that needs to improve.

My new neighbor's son works there. The neighbor says they have purchased some land from the Marina to expand their parking. We can only hope so.

Sorry for your experience, but what do you expect? It's not the small island hangout it once was. I would never go during prime dinner hours for that very reason. It's definetly the coolest bar on the island, but it no longer a well kept secret.
