There are a bunch of companies out there that charge to do a simple "Wordpress" website. I have run into quite a few and recently had to walk one through how to add text tags and other basic web optimization things that any person doing websites should know, but they didn't.
You can do a Wordpress website yourself, seriously. They are free and work on templates. You don't have to know HTML or any other type of coding because they are drag and drop. If you buy a domain name through Godaddy.com and many others - Wordpress comes installed for free. I know some people who charge thousands to build websites for businesses and it's just a Wordpress site. They look nice, but there is no reason that you should be paying anyone more than a few hundred dollars to put one together... Maybe a thousand if it's really involved. Chances are all that you need is 4 or 5 pages, some pictures, and a contact form. You can do that yourself for free and it will look great. If you want to pay someone to do a professional site, make sure that it's a unique website that is custom written and not in a template. A pro should not be using Wordpress to design for so many reasons...
What I would pay someone to do would be to go in after the site is done to optimize it. That means going into the code and adding keywords to tags, naming images and using their "alt tags" for keywords, and things like that. Someone like myself can do that for you at a very low cost, or you can even pull up a Youtube video on "website optimization" and have someone show you how to do it yourself. The key to website optimization is updating your keywords to popular (in your category) search terms frequently. Always have what people are searching for on your site and you will place well.
