The new Super-Safeway is coming along finally. I think that the new Safeway will be a very nice place to shop if it's anything like the Safeway by Best-Buy in Annapolis. I only hope that it doesn't completely kill Food Lion and Acme, becasue there is no way that they will be able to compete with that. There's nothing worse than empty stores.
Speaking of empty stores - Does anyone know what, if anything, is going to go where the old (current) Safeway is? A movie theatre would be nice, although it's never going to happen.

I shop at Food Lion every week and I like them. Only complaint is they are often understaffed and don't have enough registers open and no one to bag groceries.
I don't plan on switching to the new Safeway.

What is wrong with the outlets?? Why are they so hard to fill? They are much easier on the eyes than most strip malls (or maybe I'm just acustomed to seeing them) It seems a boating theme could work in that area (Boaters world, Prop shop, etc) I hate to see new stores built when empty stores exist.
(Yes, and I would also like a Giant in place of the ACME)

The old outlets will never be filed. My own thoughts are that the owners of this run down mall just want short leases or leases they can break so they can put in condo's..If they wanted to rent these they would call people back. I wanted to put in a store but never got a call back after 5 calls to them. Look at all of his malls they are all junk in my opion

You call the stores on the island supermarkets..LOL...I wouldn't be caught dead in any of them..Competition is always best for the consumer...Think of the price wars..and who will benefit from them...YOU..I live on the island and have to shop in either Annapolis or Easton..that's sad It's not SAD to shop elsewhere, At least I knew that when I moved here, and could care less that I'm still doing it 18 years later. And I'm STILL not trying to change the Island that I moved to. LaLa Land, is where you live is you think that bringing another grocery store to the Island will bring down prices. We grocery shop in Annapolis and will still do that IF the Giant comes. All that a new Giant will do is take up more of the land that used to make Kent Island attractive....

Sounds like Giant is building a new strip mall on the north side of Rt 50, or am I misunderstanding?
If that is true, I hope they continue to build these eye sores right on Rt 50 so the passer-bys dont get any ideas that KI is a beautiful place to live. Hopefully we can keep Rt 8 and Rt 18 relatively junk-free .... and beautiful.

It is obvious if they allow another supermarket(giant) they( the county) have already agreed to many more houses? More money in some pockets for adjusted zoning laws?

well I guess we don't have much else to complain about, I heard from someone at McCrone that the Giant passed on the site and on the proposed strip mall. Apparently the county was asking for too much $$ to redo the access roads leading in and out. Also I finally did hear that Club one was moving, but did I hear right that it is going in the old Safeway site?
