I think that it might be interresting to see where everyone hails from and it might explain some of the viewpoints that are posted on the Forum. You have to be a registered user to click an option (vote), otherwise just reply with your answer.

Hey Rich, There's been a few posters the last couple months who may not be from this world. Maybe you could add a category "not from this planet" - you might get a few responses

Born and raised in rural Alabama. Then I got hitched to one of those Eastern Shore women. Never thought she would get me settle me here, but these girls are feisty until they get their way.
Oh well. Enough rednecks around Kent Island for me to feel at home.

Not really a category for us military brats. Born in CT and moved all over the US, Germany, and Morocco every 1 to 3 years. Lived in Northern VA for 16 years (moving every 1 to 3 years). Moved out here 5 years ago, met my husband, and got married a year ago today. Guess I'm here for a while!

I think that the rednecks are slowly being pushed off the Island and into Grasonville and beyond. Trading NASCAR country music hunter-types for greedy unfriendly buy and sell types isn't really a step in in any way. At least the rednecks don't impose their ways on people. For example, I'm sure that the "no rollerblading / no skateboarding" signs went up in Queen's Landing due to a few wine sippers rather than some dumb redneck. I'll take the rednecks, thanks.

andrewd, North of the split is where the old style people are going. Stevensville, Chester, Grasonville are all "wine sippers" -- I laughed. They want it to be their own little dream world. A Rockville or Silver Spring, except surrounded on all four sides by water. It makes them feel cool to say, I live on THE ISLAND.

Drop a Rockville on this side of the bridge and call it a dream world? Lived at the corner of Manakee St. and Carr Ave. for five years. Gotta do more than that, Mike.
BTW there's beer drinkin red necks in Rockville too.
I'm a chicken-necker that came here for what it is. I don't want to change anything. I don't want street lights. I don't want nature trails. I don't want Applebees, Targets, Wally-Worlds, Giants or strip joints. I don't feel inferior saying I live on the Island. I think it's pretty cool.

Anyone else sensing a complex on Mike's part? not sure what's up his ass, but perhaps he'd be better off building a greensboroonline site?
You really like to harp on "the island" on the kentislandonline website, Mike... feeling inferior? Is there a reason? What's up?

Nah Matt.. Greensboro is far superior to "The Island". Real, Honest and Hardworking people there. They don't ooze Soccer Mom blood. They work for what they have. There is talk of them building a shopping center in Greensboro, people are excited. People don't move there and fight against development. People who do that have an inferiority complex.

You make less and less sense every day. "They don't ooze Soccer Mom blood.... a shopping center in Greensboro, people are excited." They like shopping centers down in Greensboro. Honest, hardworking people that they are; Gawd love 'em, they like shopping centers... they work for what they have, and they can't wait to piss it away at a new strip mall. Sounds good. I'll call my clients and tell 'em to move out to Greensboro to build it up. Those salt of the earth people will just love it.

BTW sipping wine makes me burp.
