Does anyone know when the Ram's Head will be taking over the Island Inn and if they are going to gut that place and make it upscale? Hopefully the crowd will change if nothing else.

They already closed the deal. It will be called Rams Head shore house. They are putting in $80K in renovations, but it will be a slow change over. They did the same transition when they bought Rudys Tavern in Crownsville. The grande opening is in November and they will change the name and bring in the good beer. They will slowly weed out some of the trashy clientle and make it a repectable place with music 3x a week. The place needs to change over sooner than later.

I love the Fordham beers and am looking forward to being able to have them all available on KI. I know, it's a chain place... but at least it's a local chain.
A funny thing - Somebody from the Island Inn Emailed me around 2001/2002 all upset because in our "Nightlife" page the description of The Island Inn said that they had a 'bit of a rough crowd at times'. That's common knowledge around here, and the guy that wrote our original "Nightlife" page was putting it pretty nice. I had to remove that description for fear of being sued... At least no mention of the "gun & knife club" term.... lol. The Ram's Head has it's work cut out for it to change the reputation alone!

My question is where will everyone that used to go there go now?

Red Eyes? Generally it's a similar crowd (stereotyping, of course).

Will Ram's Head still have the half naked Oil Wrestling girls? I guess with Ram's Head coming in it's okay to be like Annapolis, it's Glen Burnie we don't want to be like. Although I don't remember Oil Wrestling in Annapolis anywhere. I do remember some in Glen Burnie and Pasadena.

I plan to try it once the changeover has happened. I went there once about 5 years ago and "rough" is putting it mildly. I'd like to try it again, but I'll wait until it feels safer.

Rough? Are you joking? Island Inn is pretty mild. Unfortunately, Rams Head has done NOTHING to communicate with the community. I am assuming they think that they don't want us - and that includes everyone on this board (whether you remember the "Shoot and Stab" or if you are a newcomer to the island). So, don't bother "trying it out" ... they don't want your business. Years ago, the Beach Club took this approach and it hurt to the point where the entire business model needed to be adjusted. Wait until February when they are hurting for business - will they reach out to us then?

Which community are you talking about? I know plenty of people that cross the bridge to go to Rams Head in Annapolis or Crownsville. You can't lose with good food and good beer.
