Would like to hear some opinions from law enforcement officers on the governors race. If you are not in law enforcement join in as we would like to hear your views also.

I am a local Kent Island resident and I am strictly for Governor Erlich. I note that the previous poster is a Baltimore Police Officer. My son has had several brushes with the law in Baltimore and the last time we had to go to the Baltimore City Police Department to pick up a police report. Mayor O'Malley should be ashamed of the conditions of the Police Department and the jails. I don't know how any police officer would want to work in those conditions. I have never seen such a Police station. Trash all around the outside, stark walls inside and the jails are in horrible condition and they seem to have no control over the inmates. The moral seemed to be very low. My son claims his mattress was stolen (how does that happen?), rats and bugs running everywhere. I know jail is not supposed to be a fun place, but these people are human and deserve humane treatment. The only place in Baltimore that is nice is the Inner Harbor where the tourists go. The drugs are rampant, on every corner. I understand Baltimore is #1 for Heroin in the country and Mayor O'Malley was voted #1 Mayor, I DON'T THINK SO. Do you think he ever gets in his car and sees how most of the people in Baltimore live? It breaks my heart. I was going to write O'Malley a letter but this gave me a chance to vent. I truly believe Governor Erlich cares about the people in the State of Maryland.

I'm not in Law enforcement, but I'm all for Erlich.
Funny how for the last few years we've heard all about how bad off Baltimore is, and now that it's elections time we don't hear that at all.......
I just hope that Baltimore city, PG County, & Mont. County see the light......

Too bad KI isn't part of Virginia like way back when. Now we are part of a state that caters to criminals and PG type losers. There's a goodreason that 3 miles outside of DC in VA that area is super wealthy with minimal crime and great jobs, while the same distance in MD is ghetto with murders and rapes the norm. If you welcome it, it will come.

To cruiser, I will say that I am, as well as many many of my law enforcement coworkers are PRO ERLICH, your observations are right and yes Mayor O'malley should be ashamed of himself. I grew up in Baltimore and have watched the city deteriorate for the last 15 years. The end of what was once a nice city, began when Kurt Schmoke was elected as mayor. The downhill slide has continued under Martin O'Malley. Many excellent police officers have been leaving the city for the last 10 years. Under O'Malley's regime the standards have been lowered to the point that people that should not, are getting through the screening process. These are the individuals who you are hearing about in the news. These are people being hired as police officers who should never wear a badge. This is an example of how he will run the state if elected. I will say that I have seen his ads and how he has reduced crime in the city and how he cares about families. HOGWASH!! I don't ever remenber Martin O'Malley pulling up in a Baltimore City Police vehicle to back me up on a dangerous call. This may show you how loyal he is to people so listen to this. A co worker Police Agent Gene Cassidy was ambushed while on duty October 22, 1987 which left him with two bullets in his head. As a result of this Gene was left completely blind. The doctors at shock trauma could not understand how he lived. Well as the story goes Gene refused to die and wanted to contribute his teaching skills to the City of Baltimore and the Police Department. Since that time Gene would go to work each day in the Baltimore Police Academy with his partner/ seeing eye dog and teach recruits. Thanking him for his years of service O'Malley had him forced out earlier this year, thus causing Gene to have to leave the job he loved. This is the type of man who says he cares about people and children. Gene has a wife and children. Oh by the way there were other Police Officers who had legitimate line of duty injuries that he forced out this year also. So if O'Malley does not value someone like Gene, who has been a loyal dedicated employee, how much would he care about people/citizens he has never met? ? There are many many Baltimore City Police Officers who are praying that he does not become our Governor. Should this happen, however, my conscience will be clear as he will not receive my vote. I will not forget how he has treated the officers who have suffered some serious disabling injuries while protecting Baltimore's citizens over the past two decades. Signed Baltimore Police Officer hoping voters get it right"

I am a retired Balto. City Police Officer who reported corruption in the Q.A.Co. Sheriff Dept. to Senator E.J.Pipkin. Said corruption stemmed from a felonious burglary, and $22,000.00 vandalism of my home located at 109 Emory Circle Stevensville. Sheriff Crossley's men pointed out my neighbors as the culprits, bur refused to take action. The original report was rewritten months after the fact, and contained over 65 mistakes. In an attempt for justice I went to the State Police for help. Detective Sgt. Mitch Park attempted to take the investigation away from the Sheriff's Department. In writing Sgt. Park advised me that Sheriff Crossley lost the reports. This was proven to be a lie by Amy Bonner of the Q.A.Co. administrator's office under Mr. Paul Comfort. I went to States Attorney Frank Kratovil for justice, and he advised me that I should move. Senator E.J.Pipkin sent me to see Captain Marty Knight commander of the Centreville Barracks. In front of five witnesses Captain Marty Knight stated the Senator ordered Sgt. Earl Beville of the Md. State Police to get me. After twenty two years in the security, and property management business, without one black mark. I was ordered by the authority of Lt. Gary Foster Maryland State Police not to go to work under a $5,000.00 a day fine for not having, or being qualified for a license that I did not need in the first place. Lt. Foster is a personal friend of Sgt. Beville, and when assigned to the Centreville Barracks Lt. Foster refused to take action against the burglary suspects who were illegally selling vehicles on the public street. Example: a pick-up truck listed to a man who owns a garage in Downingtown Pa., displaying a Delaware license plate that had been expired for more than four years while displaying a current sticker. Registered letters were sent to Gov. Ehrlich in reference to these crimes with hard evidence. My letters were sent back to me unopened, and this was after I was promised he would do his duty. At this point I painted swastikas on my car, the American Indian peace sign, and my phone number 410-643-0286. My four page letter to the Governor detailing the corruption was also pasted to the side windows. I parked my car legally in the same exact spot on Pier One at RT.#8 where Senator Pipkin politically advertises with his pick-up truck. Almost immediately States Attorney Frank Kratovil ordered Md. State Police Trooper Lewis to investigate my car. Trooper Lewis was ordered by Kratovil to leave me alone due to the fact that I was parked legally, and protected under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. My car was towed away without a ticket, and crushed by the Sheriff's Department in violation of my constitutional right to due process of law. At this point in time I have in the works a $3,000.000.00 law suit case against Sheriff Crossley, Deputy Beaty, and Q.A.County. I am a registered Republican who will vote for O'Mally, and Carden. The crime in this country is getting worse by the day, and none of the politicians seem to have the courage to stand up and be counted. The blood shed by brave men and women, and THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES is the only reason we have our freedom. By his actions Governor Ehrlich has proven to me that he is a pollution first, and an American last.......Pete Richter

My only comment was "Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot". The Missus said, 'somebody needs to up the meds or some additional evaluation." There's a nice yellow building up there in Centreville at Broadway and North Liberty.

Dear [glow=red,2,300]bmule[/glow] and [glow=red,2,300]bchevy[/glow], It seems you are calling Pete Richter crazy. What you fail to realize is that he is Crazy about the CONSTITUTION. Please read it. Those are your rights. Richter apparently painted swastikas on his car to send a STRONG message that some politians are using the power of the police(Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Department, etc.) to violate the rights of good citizens. You both must not understand what he is saying. Did you see the phone number on the car? Why did'nt you call? Please be smart citizens and call him for clarification. We all need to stick together to end corruption. P.s. Please explain your posts further.

You put bait on your car, van, house or yard like that and you will attract the attention that you don't want. Easy math for me: swastikas on his car + Parked illegally = Towed away/Crushed... I'm crazy about our constitution, I vote on election day, I do what I can- when I can do it.

BCHEVY,
I'm with you - sometimes you put it out there, you pay the consequences. Maybe Mr. Richter needs to be a little more selective how he publicizes his thoughts.
BMULE,
Do they also have nice white coats with long sleeves in Centreville? ;D

Reply to AMERICAN CITIZEN GUEST...........Let me thank you for your support. Check out what I have to say at Re: SICK OF IT ALL. After my car was towed away I parked my van in the same exact spot with the same painted messages. Plus a four page letter to our States Attorney Mr. Frank Kratovil which he has refused to answer. I stood in the road carrying an American flag, and defied Sgt. Sonny Jones of the Sheriff's Department to tow this vehicle while the citizens looked on. Sgt. Jones wimped out. This is the same 270 lb. Sgt. Sonny Jones, along with back-up that shot, unarmed 77 year old, 130 lbs retired waterman Harry Davidson of Chester in the back five times with a taser gun. Mr. Davidson is a life long resident of this county, and has a serious heart condition. Harry is not going to move either. Many talk the talk, but few walk the walk. This country belongs to the citizens, and it is our duty to stand up and be counted. M.L.King said it the best,"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"..........Pete Richter 410-643-0286

Like Bchevy said, there are right ways and wrong ways to to bring attention to an issue. When a swastika is seen, it's not the original Native American meaning that comes to mind. What comes to mind is the meaning that some Austrian jailbird, rear-end attached to it that comes to mind. I stand by my reaction because it's my constitutional right to do so just as it's someone else's right to paint objectionable crap on their vehicle. I also vote in every election and proudly can say that I have done so since I was 18.
White jackets with long sleeves in Centreville? I don't know. They may, they not. I'm not going to put myself in a position to find out.
