I warn drivers along 50 between KI and Easton because the troopers are being sneaky with the whole trunk popped open to hide the lights, hiding at the dips in the road, etc. I have zero respect for those guys.

My question is why would a law abiding citizen warn aggressive drivers and speeders? This could be the very person that may lose control and hit your vehicle killing you and or a family member?

I think that it depends on what you call speeders. There is the roads that should not have low speed limits (like Main Street coming down from US 50 to Castle Marina Rd) that seem to be there specifically so that tickets can be written, and then there is the guy speeding wrecklessly. The stretch of 50 between Easton and Grasonville seems to be just one giant speed trap as well. The speed limit should be 65MPH, but is kept at 55 so that tickets can be written for drivers that are going 65. Driving 65MPH on that road isn't a threat to anyone, but if someone is going faster than that I can understand them getting a ticket. I know that it's the law and speeding is breaking the law, but the law stinks and most people would agree being that most people travel faster than the posted speed limit on that road.
I agree that the open trunk thing is devious and sneaky, and just another reason that a good chunk of the population have a problem with the Staties.

andrewd The speed zones are not determined by police departments. Crashes are caused for many reasons, many are not solely due to driving 55 or 65 mph. There are many drivers that even without throwing drugs or alcohol in the mix, are dangerously incompetent to drive a vehicle period! Fatal crashes can happen even at 15 or 20 mph. The speed limit is not solely the issue. It is the driver behind the wheel. FYI many police, myself included do not cite someone unless they are exceeding 15 mph over. We will take the overall traffic's speed into consideration. Now if you blow by a marked car, well that is another story

I think county police are jealous of State Police, I have nothing but respect for the MSP.

Could the 'lower' speed limit on the G'ville - Easton route be because of all of the local roads entering onto 5 without traffic lights?

JUSTICE- The laws should be enforced with justice in mind, not of revenue. If speed kills why don't the enforcers of the law obey the speed limits? These seat belt jockeys tailgate vehicles in the fast lane doing 60mph. with total disregard for human life only to do 75mph. themselves. "Don't do as I do, do as I say, I'm the long long arm of the law". If the police would slow down so would the citizens. What a disgrace to the badge.............pete jr

Nobody obeys the speed limit, and if you say you do you are lying to yourself and everyone else. The problem with local police is that they are corrupt and so intertwined with the drugs on the island, that all they have left to do after ignoring all of the serious problems is sit their lazy as*’s on the side of 50 or any other road for that matter and right tickets to everyone doing the exact same thing that they do; SPEED! But I guess its o.k. for cops to speed, especially with no lights and siren, because they are off to some important cause. I would have to say the king of the sh*t-pile would have to be Mr. Jones. He has got to be the best officer in the department because you always see him in the Baytimes for his good deeds. I guess everyone else just turns their head to all of his harassment complaints. You had just better hope that you never get pulled over by him when no one else is around because you never know what kind of things he can conjure up in his little pee wee head about why he pulled you over. He as well as most of the other officers tend to have a way of twisting reality around to say they have reasonable cause for something. For example: Officer: Give me you license and registration, now.
Convict: O.K., could I ask you what I was doing wrong?
Officer: Just give me them!
Convict: Yes sir.
Officer: Did you just say yes sir? Dip-sh*it to Dispatch, could we get a K-9 unit out here, I just had someone ask me why I pulled him over and then he cussed me out. He also has a tattoo and is being non-compliant so I think we had better search the vehicle.
Convict: But? But? What did I do?
Officer: Shut up and put your hands on the wheel! Do you have any hand grenades in the vehicle?
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have any hand grenades; yes I have been asked that. I just can’t seem to figure out how they are law-abiding citizens themselves. I hope a new Sheriff will fix some of the problems that exist within the department.

andrewd The speed zones are not determined by police departments. Crashes are caused for many reasons, many are not solely due to driving 55 or 65 mph. Let's try this. If the speed limits are set reasonably, for safety, and to prevent crashes then exceeding the speed limits would be unreasonable, unsafe, and would cause crashes. Most people will admit to speeding. Most people have not had crashes. Are most people just lucky? Or, is it possible that the speed limits are set low? Is it possible that most people find a natural and safe speed to travel without reading the signs? Have you ever noticed how most of the cars on the road seem to be travelling at the same speed? Sure, there's the one guy who is racing through traffic, but there is also the lane-sheriff driving the speed limit in the left hand lane. Take those two away and most of the rest are driving at the same speed, typically in excess of the posted limit. If the limits were set at the maximum safe speed, shouldn't I see, or be involved in, many more accidents? The speed limit at the bottom end of Rt. 8 was 50mph for many years. Last year, or so, it was changed to 30. Was there suddenly a rash of accidents? I know I didn't see a single one. Or is there some reason other than safety that results in lower limits?

to alanr the dealer should have supplied you with a tag bracket as md law does not make sports cars exempt. put one on and you probably will not get stopped for one tag
