I am looking at putting basic wood flooring in two rooms of my house to match the flooring in the rest of the house. The quote that I got is $1685.00 for a 13' X 13' room, and $1284.00 for a 12' X 11' room. That includes the installation and removal of old carpets and sealing/coloring of the new floor. I don't know anything about this sort of thing. Is this a fair price? Thanks.

What type of wood, Rich? Generally you can get number 1 oak flooring installed and finished for $8-$9 a square foot...maybe a bit cheaper if its in large quantity. The price goes up a little bit for wide plank oak, or a more expensive species like cherry or pecan.
I assume you are doing oak and the prices you are quoted come out to almost $10 a square foot which is pretty close to the going rate...maybe just a bit high. They are certainly not gauging you but it is not a deal either.

Thanks jmw63381. It's the #1 oak basic flooring. I thought that the price seemed a little high. It's the flooring place next to Big Bat's in Stevensville. The rep was really nice, but the price just seems really high.
