GBMike - I feel your pain; how far is Greensboro from the "Island"? Like BlueMule, I get up at 4:15, put the coffee on, feed and let the dog out, and battle to wake the wife up. We leave the house for work at 6:00; I drop her off in DC and continue to my wonderful job in Falls Church, VA. It's 126 miles round trip M-F. We finally get home around 6:15. Lovin' life. Thank God for the weekends.

Up at 4:00 (could get away with 5:00 but then who'd wrangle the beasties and get the rest of the house in gear?) I'm diddie-boppin' out the door at 6:00 (sometimes earlier), squeekie clean with a cup-o-joe, home at 5:00 ready for a couple of cold ones and a plate or two of chow.
Life's good and wouldn't trade it for nuthin'.

Commuting sucks... I used to enjoy it - or think I did; however, there are tons of CD's, satellite radio, and too many cars to count over the years that prove I was trying to make it somewhat tolerable.

I'm not commuting. My job requires me to drive to different district courts throughout the state.
Monday Leonardtown Tuesday - Price Frederick Today - Snow Hill
I'm not used to being up at 5a, I'm a 630 riser.
Shadow1 it's only 34 minutes to "The Island" from Greensboro, chump change

Yeah seems like everyone is sick right now. And it's a nasty one that lingers for weeks. Don't feel sick enough to stay in bed all day - just feel sick enough to wish you could.

I've been using Ziacam at the 1st sign of a cold, for the past couple of years; haven't had a cold since. The stuff works.

Airborne works better than Zicam in my experiences

Zicam is not a prescription, can be found in any food store, drug store, etc. It lessens or prevents the cold from taking hold. Never tried airborne, zicam works for me. Zicam now has a cold and cough medication out, this is not the cold preventive product.

Airborne you drop in about 2 oz of water and it dissolves. I take it whenever I go someplace crowded. Works like an f'in champ

Oh My God... I went to K-Mart the other day to make a return... granted it was a large return, but I was there for 45 minutes while the person behind the desk berated me for having such a large return. I tried to explain over and over why I had to return the items but she just kept talking about me to the people behind me. If I didn't have crap loads of class I would have told the heffer (and I don't care if I misspelled it) where to go...

ljp - You should absolutely report that person to management. And if they don't care, you should take it to KMart corporate. There is no excuse for a "customer service" person to treat you - a paying customer - like that! Did you get the heffer's name?
It burns me up when people at KMart and other stores like it treat customers badly. Their job is to help out and be friendly - if they can't do it, NO JOB!
By the way - I saw a very nice young gal who works at Food Lion go out of her way to help someone find a unique item. Nice to see someone doing it right!

LJP- my wife and I also were at K-mart last week and took a sale item from the X-mas section to the counter. When the cashier rang it up, it came up at the regular price not the sale price. I told her it was on sale with a sign saying so. She didn't offer to ask for a price check or take my word for it; instead she asked me to get the sign. Don't know why, but started to walk to get it, stopped turned around and told her I wasn't going to walk across the store. She could have cared less, while chomping on her gum. Usually, I would have insisted on speaking to the manager, but didn't have the time and left the item (not small) sitting on the counter in front of her. Obviously, the store is managed poorly, but it also shows that the kids nowdays just want a few bucks for their pocket, but don't want to work for it - I see it more and more. Maybe we should tell the store manager to read this forum for a clue as to what's happening in their store

I went in to K-Mart last week looking for a specific thing as a gift. I asked two different employees and they said "I don't know, haven't seen it in a long time" and walked away. I wandered around and never found it. I did notice that if you are ever needing a crock-pot, K-Mart has the lock on that! There were crock-pots everywhere, and I'm not kidding. Somebody there thinks that there will be a huge Christmas run on not only Elmo's and Play stations, but the old trust crock-pots as well. And all that I wanted was a Homedics Foot Messager...!

A long time ago I worked in a store. The boss once heard me telling a customer I didn't know where something was. He explained to me that my job was either to know where it was or find someone who did. After a couple of times asking him where things were, he explained that if he had to do all the work then he didn't need me there.
What he said had a major impact on me, it is something I still keep in mind in every job I do. Back then kids respected their elders, listened to their bosses, and basically gave a d**n about what the community thought about them.
It wasn't all that long ago, but things sure have changed.

Rich you are too funny!
Thomas, I don't remember her name but she had some unmistakable qualities that I am sure anyone listening would know who I was talking about.
Shadow the problem you experienced was one of the reasons I was returning most of the items. When I got home I realized I had paid more than $45.00 for wrapping paper that I thought was only going to cost $10.00 because of the way the sign read. Then because I bought a few more things it didn't hit me what was wrong until I left the store. The funny thing is as I was returning them; they were ringing up at the 50 cents price not the $3.99 I actually paid for them. My disputing this was part of the reason the counter person was getting frustrated with me believe it or not!!
I used to Mystery Shop that store. I did it once a week and I got tired of reporting the SAME problems over and over again, the $10 wasn't worth the headache and time of filling out a mile long report. Since the 'remodel' I had been somewhat impressed with the changes but it seems like the employees are back to acting like they work in a plant or something. I don't know how to explain this the correct way but it is like they are the people in that movie with Tom Hanks where he goes off to an island....what was that movie?? Joe Volcano or something like that? Anyway if you saw the movie you know what I am talking about. They don't seem to care; they act like they are bored and have a whip cracking behind them. I feel kinda creepy going in there late at night. Like I expect to turn around and have them slipping me SAVE ME messages with my receipts or something!
It's funny Shadow the more I run errands around the island and the more people I talk to the more I found out how this forum affects change with local businesses. For the good! I am seeing it more and more. Maybe someone SHOULD tell the manager about this site!

Here's the sad part.
The Manager KNOWS!
My wife had a similar display at the customer service center. It was so bad that a co-worker reported it to the manager, the manager supposedly viewed some security tape and timed the service, then supposedly fired the girl. That co-worker saw my wife later at a school function and let her in on the story... FWIW
I worked at Kmart in Annapolis way back in my early days, and anything like this going on and the worker would be looking for another job, Quick.
