Looks like we hit a nerve on this subject. Customer service seems to be an issue just about everywhere anymore, but, as several of us have witnessed or been part of, it is prevalent at K-mart. I try to keep in mind that there are also some employees there who are helpful. When I was young if I got fired from a job for being lazy, and my father found out, I would have gotten a serious A** whippin. I attribute alot of this to lack of discipline and ethics taught by parents nowdays. BChevy - I'm sure your right saying the "managers know". LJP - you had every right to dragged the "heffer" over the counter, but it's apparent that your parents must have raised you properly

Shadow here ya go a little Karma for you on behalf of my mom!
I agree re: Customer Service, this is precisely why I shop at Nordstrom’s every opportunity I get.
I am just about done with K-Mart...if only I had another option....
(just dying to see what that inspires!)

Whoa be careful - you're gonna get the "preserve KI police" on your butt!
I've always liked Target the best as far as discount type stores go. Maybe if we got one over here somewhere, KMart would step up to the plate.
NAH...
Oh almost forgot to add - Target can come as long as they use an existing building and don't bring any new people and yadda yadda

Did you know the new Safeway is the same size as a Wal-Mart?
Why is OK for Safeway to build, but not Wal-Mart?

Probably because of the stigma of the name. Also, I think the location was bad. From what I could see - it looked like the Walmart would be the first thing you'd see as soon as you come off the bridge. I think it's nicer to see the marina there - gives a better first impression.
I don't have a problem with Walmart coming - but why couldn't it be Target instead?

Yeah maybe a little bit. But you get more as far as cleanliness, service, and range of products.

If Target went in where K-Mart is, no-one would say a word. Safeway is building their new store right next to the old one and will serve the same customers. If Walmart built a store on the island, people from all around would flock to the island creating more traffic. Nobody from Annapolis, Arnold, Severna Park, and out to Easton will think twice about coming out for groceries. But, build a Walmart, and they will pay $2.50 toll to shop there vs. Annapolis prices.

I absolutely agree, replace something bad with something good, but please not a tacky sign you can see from Sandy Point! I agree also with Frank that a Wal-Mart would attract traffic from Annapolis but also some that would normally go to Easton.
Wal-Mart has agreements with all of their suppliers that their first shipment to a new store will be gratis. If you want your product with them then you will agree to the terms. This allows a new store to open with very low prices on everything as it is all 100% profit. They are the most well run from a retail business standpoint (Home Depot 2nd). They are notorious for coming in with a boom which is why they always run out the smaller competition. Although they came from small America, today they ruin small America.
