Local News From 1430 WNAV:
Gov's Race a Possible "Crap-Shoot":
November 08, 2006 (Annapolis, MD) -- It looks like it will be down to the wire for the Maryland Governor's race between Ehrlich and O'Malley, according to WBAL-TV. O'Malley gave his victory speech at 12:10AM this morning, and shortly after, Ehrlich gave a speech saying that he's not done yet. Absentee ballots still need to be counted, but it looks like Maryland will probably have a new Governor officially within a day or two at the most. In other election news, Democrat Ben Cardin has bested Republican Michael Steele. In the District 36 Senate race E.J. Pipkin (R) is the winner over Harry Sampson (D). US House District 1, Wayne Gilchrest (R) wins over J. Corwin (D). More as we get it...
What's everyone's thoughts?

I think that MOST DEMS can't see past "their" party, they vote "their" party, and we're all going to PAY for it for at least the next 4 years........

There are still 150 + absentee ballots to be counted... so lets not fully count him out. Stranger things have happened

Ahh, Ehrlich couldn't get anything done because he was permanently blocked by the Dem's, so at least now something might get done. Let's hope that the Shore doesn't get punished for voting republican as usual. I think the main reason that the Dems have done so well across the board is the current dislike of George W. that has bled over into all races, even local ones. The Repubs didn't do enough to set themselves apart from what the majority of people seem to be thinking of the current administration.

I agree with you Dan...
People are blind and it goes a little something like this
Republican = Bush = War = Vote Opposite.
RIP Maryland

GB Mike, exactly. It's sad that people don't take the time to research the candidates and vote accordingly. My vote was split 50/50 between both parties because I voted for the candidate, not the party line.

Anybody heard results on the local (QACounty) races (i.e., shefiff, commissioner, etc)? I haven't seen anything.

Ok I know I'm probably going to get slammed for this but....
Maybe having some democrats running things will actually help get the bay cleaned up a little?

I'm not familiar with the local commissioners views. With the election results, what will change and locally?

lmao...:::::this is Christina running and hiding in her closet::::::
MDers are dumb.... really dumb... since when would the governor of MD have an effect on the war in Iraq?? why vote DEM for this reason ? 1 of 2 things will happen either O'Malley will reap the benefits of the work Erlich has done or 2. we will be begging for Erlich back next term because O'Malley has turned us into Baltimore City... Hope these people enjoy higher taxes but that is exactly what will happen mark my words...

We got through eight years of Spendenning (+ two more to recover)... O'Malley and Mike Bush are probably having nice little grab-butt party right about now.
