From the Centreville's Town Council Minutes:
The Christmas Parade Committee has voted to discontinue the throwing of candy during the parade due the possibility of someone being hurt. Instead, a booth will be set up in the court yard to give out candy. Mrs. McCarthy reported that neighborhood children have expressed to her that they are disappointed that candy won’t be thrown. Also, the fire department has been requested not to blow their sirens.

Bunch of wuss's. Who's the wimp that came up with those ideas? Something that has been done for literally over a century around the country and around the world, but Centreville thinks that someone might get hurt here, now. Idiots.

Sounds like the town's lawyer put a bug in someone's ear about liability. Wonder if Santy Claus will be riding around with all the other local fire departments.

I'm in favor of the decision, I haven't had my car in the parade for the last few years, the last time I went ther was candy thrown BACK, AT the car(s) (not just mine)
Sorry guys, My car's paint job is worth a lot more than a few bags of candy. I went through the trouble and small expense to buy the candy, and the thanks I get it having it bounce of my car? nah.
I'll be back this year though!

Latest from Centrreville:
Children will have to remain 30 feet from the parade route for fear of a child being run over from the parade vehicles.
Parents can no longer put small children on there shoulders to watch the parade for fear of the children falling and getting hurt.
Santa Claus will no longer wear the traditional red suit for fear of heat exhaustion. He will wear cool, comfortable clothing.
All participating parade vehicles will be horse drawn for fear of carbon monoxide poisoning of parade attendants.
Each horse in the parade will have a waste collection system for fear of parade attendees stepping in horse dung.
C'mon people - get real!

I never saw candy at a parade (except below) until I moved here, thought it was a little different, cool though. Annapolis does it backwards, they throw candy AT the midshipmen when the march to their home games....

Maybe they should worry about this instead:
CENTREVILLE - An arrest warrant has been issued for an Easton man in connection to a shooting in Centreville early Sunday morning.
Franklin Alonzo Moore Jr., 18, of Easton faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault, said Cpl. J.D. Hofmann of the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office. Moore turned 18 on Nov. 22.
James Alexander Reed, 17, of Centreville remains in serious but stable condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after being shot in the chest Sunday morning.
Deputies from the sheriff's office assisted Centreville Police in response to a disorderly crowd of around 300 people on Spring Street in front of the Clarence W. Wilson American Legion Post 21 shortly after 1 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies heard multiple gunshots fired by more than one person. Reed was the only victim found. He was flown to the trauma center by MedEvac helicopter.

Just returned from the Centreville Christmas Parade. Weather and floats were great, which made the parade perfect.

Hope they dont do that in Stevensville. Kids LOVE collecting bags of cheap candy. And then we have something to give out at Halloween.
Thats the kids favorite part of the parade.
