Has anyone tried the new Rams Head? Is it any different than the Island Inn? What about food - is it just bar food or is it a full blown restaurant like the Rams Head in downtown Annapolis? I'm waiting for the crowd to thin a bit before I go in.

I went for happy hour on Friday and it was great. They had a bunch of food and a roast beef carving station all for free. I didn't need to take a look at the menu because I was full on free stuff!

We went for lunch and ordered off the sandwhich menu. BBQ was just OK, but the Fajita Chicken Sandwhich was super. Didnt care for their fries. They were like Arby's fries.

It's hard to beat the free food and cheap beer at happy hour. We've tried four of the five different foods and they were all good. Haven't seen the menu yet.

I tried opening their menu from the main Rams Head website and the PDF file locked up my computer! I rebooted and the same thing happened.
Greensboro Mike - Rams Head (Fordham) beers are excellent if you are used to drinking the heavier stuff like Smithwicks, Heineken, Becks, Bass, and Guinness. If you are used to the light stuff like Bud, Coors, and Miller, then you may not like it. I grew up on the West Coast where we've always had a lot of microbreweries like this, so I grew up with the strong beers. I personally love the Pub Ale and Helles Lager at Rams head. To each their own.

The new Rams Head received a low interest loan from the county. This outfit has tons of money. Why are they in our pockets? Do you think you can get a loan from the county?...... Not only is the county in the rel-estate business, and the security business, now their in the loan business.......... What other private businesses do our tax dollars support?

Low interest loans from counties are standard practice to entice businesses into the area. Rams Head is a gaurnteed winning business that ultimately will pay the county back ten-fold in year end taxes and much more. This Micro-Brewery is the only Micro Brewery that I know of from Chestertown to Salisbury, and will likely bring in people from all over the shore to QA County. It will also bring in people from places like Cap St. Clair and Arnold that are immediately across the bridge. Aside from that, by bringing a known business like Ram's Head to the county, the possibility of luring more lucerative companies / businesses over here has increased.
Again, pretty much every county in every state does this sort of thing to get businesses into their county. It creates jobs, eventually a tax base, and helps bring people into other area businesses as well.

Has the clientele changed since the switch-over?

I hit them up for a pickup lunch today and it was good. I didn't see any Trashy McTrashy's in there. The wait staff is the same. The Coor Light in draft was awesome, as was the Grumpy Greek Salad.

I finally got to try them on Saturday afternoon and I was impressed. I had a Turkey Ruben and Cream of Crab soup and both were excellent. We went over to the bar side for some beer and was equally impressed with that. It's bright and very clean. Of course the Copperhead Ale was tops too...! The owner came over to our table and is a very nice guy too. He was just seeing how we liked it and to let us know that the actual 'grand opening' is coming up this weekend. A bunch of bands and free stuff all day on Saturday. It might be a plan...!

Hopefully they hire some more staff before the grand opening. I was in their last Friday night for happy hour, the bar was absolutely packed, and they only had three servers working. It took almost 45 minutes to get a drink, and by then happy hour was over. I've been in two or three other times and it's always the same. Other than that you can't beat the free food, and I love the Fordham Lager. I've also heard that they're installing a new venitlation system that should help with the smoke.

Just goes to show how this area is starved for decent stuff to do and nice places to go. We get a few new places and they are jam packed in a week.

Been there a few times and I like it. It's nice to have another place with good beer on draught. I still find myself going to Big Bat's more, but that's probably more out of habit than anything else. I have noticed that Ram's Head has put a big dent in the barside crowd at Big Bat's, especially during happy hour. Hopefully there is enough business to support both places because I would hate to see Big Bat's go under.

I was there again on Friday, and again the service was terrible. It was early in the afternoon (about 4) and it wasn't very crowded at all. I can't even imagine what it was like on Saturday during the grand opening.
As far as them competing with Big Bats, Big Bats doesn't do themselves any favors by constantly jacking their prices up. We went in there for a quick lunch on Saturday, ordered a cheeseburger, a salad, an order of cheese fries and two sodas and the bill was $33! That's ridiculous for a sports bar.

We went last friday nite for happy hour - i was really impressed! We had gone a few times when it was island inn & between the crowd and the crappy service we opted for bat's. i agree bat's has increased prices which sucks cause it's a great place to go! back on topic - rams head - food was awesome & i wish i could remember our bartender's name but his service was FANTASTIC! We'll keep going back!!! ;D
