We had some friends over last night for a drink and we were telling them about this marvelously FUN restaurant. For those Islanders of us that haven't been it is so well worth the trip across the bridge. Especially for breakfast! It's pretty cool how they stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. It's inexpensive, great food, and very charming. www.chickandruths.com/index.html

OMG, Mike, you don't know what you are missing. This little diner/deli is such an experience that I would highly recommend for all of us to visit! The isles are narrow, the seating is narrow, the food is great, and the atmosphere is something like no where else. Give it a try, you will have a wonderful time !

I definitely second - on this one. If I have to hang out on for any kind of appointment in Annapolis after work in the morning, it's my favorite spot for breakfast.

Family & I went months back. Is is a totally different exp. than a normal rest. It's so narrow you feel like your on top of everyone while eating. It was pretty good food, I just felt a bit weird sitting hip to hip next to someone (as I heard their belly growl) Hubby goes often & loves it as he works in Annapolis. The pictures all over the walls ware neat to look at, so many famous people have been in there!

Where is it?
I went to Grumps for the first time this summer and found it to be pretty good for breakfast.

It's on Main Street in Annapolis, near State Circle.
I used to love it, but they apparently reuse their oil (I'm allergic to seafood) and I had a bad reaction last time I was there.

Work for the City of Annapolis so I go there every morning (except weekends) for iced tea. The staff is very friendly and I love the they make you feel like family.
Very quirky place but it's entertaining! ;D

So does Chick's son still do the magic quarter trick! Used to eat there for lunch all the time -- back in the '80s. Reserved seating for "The Governor --(.......marvin mandel...) Is that still there? I always LOVED their pickels!

Yes, he still does the quater trick. I just watched him entertain some folks from out of town the other morning with his tricks. Ted is really cool and a real sweetheart!

I'm so glad he's maintained his personality and charm -- so much like his father was.
