That is a shame. I know that the owner has been trying to sell Love Point Cafe for over a year now, and almost had it sold a few months ago but the people bailed. I used to really like this place but I stopped going this past summer after a few bad meals. The quality seemed to drop bad and I gave it quite a few tries. Oh well. I wonder what will open up in it's place? I would love a Thai or Japanese place....

Sign on the door says Closed for Business, whatever that means. There's a smaller sign that says something about December 28th but we had a car behind us and could not stop to read more. Sure hope the place does not close. Was a first-date type place for the mrs. and I.

It's finished. From a source I consider reliable.

That is a shame. Quite a few businesses in Old Stevensville have failed. That area needs a revitalization to draw enough businesses to bring visitors. Old Stevensville has the charm to be a successful spot - I think it just needs a little help.

"highlander73", Love Point Cafe' was where I 'popped the question' to the misses. We're bummed that it's closed too. I noticed that the quality of the food went down a lot over the past year or so as well. My meals were either burnt or cold the last few times in there. The service was always great though, and we looked forward to seeing the people that worked there. I think that with the owner trying to move to Florida for over a year, his heart just wasn't in it. Too bad because it was a great place in it's day. Hopefully someone will open it back up soon.
I've been kicking around an idea to try and bring more people into old Stevensville with a page on this site that maps out everything there. We get a lot of tourist hits on here and I get Emails every day from people looking for things to do, where to eat, antique info, etc - so a map with all of that info for downtown might help steer them to the area. It's in the works. The businesses down there really should band together and do an advertising campain to get people there though. Advertise across the bridge to the daytrippers, in real estate mags, the phone book, etc. It would be expensive for each business to do that, but lumped together, it wouldn't be a lot for each business.

Thats a great idea! I've always thought there was tourism potential for Old Stevensville - just no one (outside of KI) knows about it.

Make sure you title it "Map of Downtown Kent Island", because no one knows this town is named Stevensville.

There is a big article in the Bay Times today about the closing. It says in the article that the owner sold several thousand dollars worth of gift certificates leading up to Christmas and then closed down Christmas eve. My family was given a $250 gift certificate there as a Christmas gift. I feel horrible for the person that gave it. The owner turns out to be pretty low class in my book.

Is the Bay Times availible online? That is definently a low class act. I hope he makes restitution on those certificates, but it sounds intentional to me.

The phone message says that "As of December 26th, Love Point Cafe will be closed until further notice". 410-604-0910
I've met 'Tom' the owner many times there and he seemed like a good guy, and the staff liked him from what I could tell. Hopefully he will refund the certificates and / or re-open. It just doesn't seem like him to do this.

There are a lot of people out there with those certificates... a lot of unhappy people, it seems. I'd have a hard time knowingly patronizing the owner's establishment in the future.

Rich with a URL like 0hioforeclosures.com, makes you look a little like a spammah.
Looks like our little buddy Tom Peterson had a little issue with a breach of lease. Check the Maryland Court Records Search.. muhahahhha. if I was 51K in the hole, I'd close my business too!
