Just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for their on-going support of Chesapeake Cats and Dogs. The animals (and their human caretakers) REALLY appreciate it!

I was at Bev's today and noticed that you are selling your calenders again. CUTE pictures..and what makes them so personal is that they are real pictures of Ches. Cats ....Hope you do well. I guess you don't have kitties on Tuesdays at Bevs...my son was disappointed he missed them. Barb

Hey Barb, hope you made it to the center today. Did you meet Calvin? He reminds me SO much of Puss'n'boots from Shrek! He is SUCH a lovebug!!! I suggested that we use him in a Valentine's Day ad with his picture and the slogan "I only have eyes for you!". Have a good weekend!

ccad has some 60--60!--cats/kittens that have been rescued and need homes. many kittens are out being fostered, and will all be coming to the shelter at about the same time, where there is not enough room, money, manpower.... no one has the heart to turn away all the little ones, but help is needed. please adopt, tell your friends about ccad, please help. call the center (643-9955).

If we had a larger house (or two stories), we'd totally foster. Or, at least, I'd beg and plead with my husband until he relented... But with 4 cats in a one-story 1040 square foot home, there's nowhere we could fit an extra litter box.
What else does CCAD need? Supplies or donations?

What else does CCAD need? Supplies or donations? absolutely!! fundraisers were held this past weekend at safeway and before that at western auto. several more are coming up: "On Wednesday, May 13, one of our adopted cats, Simon, is sponsoring a fundraiser at Doc's Riverside Grill in Centreville (511 Chesterfield Avenue). This event runs from 7 to 9 pm. There will be three guest bartenders, several very nice Silent Auction items, and a 50/50. Our Longaberger Basket/Vera Bradley Bag Bingo is Sunday, May 17, at the American Legion, on Rte. 8 S. in Stevensville. Doors open at 12:30; Bingo begins at 2:00. Debbie Vogelsang will run a Bake Sale with many of her delicious offerings. (Again, we would appreciate donations of baked items.) There will be hot dogs, chips, sandwiches, and drinks for sale, and 20 regular games with filled baskets and bags, 3 special games, 2 raffles, and a tie-breaker basket. Cheryl Nicely will be selling Avon Products to benefit CCAD. There will be a 50/50 drawing. Cost is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Tickets are available at the Cat Center (410-643-9955). Join us for a genuinely fun family event. On Saturday, May 30, Whole Foods in Annapolis is sponsoring a Giving Grill to benefit CCAD. Come see the beautiful new store at 2504 Solomons Island Road. Purchase your lunch at the Giving Grill served by a CCAD volunteer and meet some of our adoptable pets. We hope to see you at one or more of these events. All proceeds will benefit the animals." Please see the newsletter link on the homepage of KIO (thanks, rich!) and in this topic. i post a new one every month. it has info on ccad's animals, what is needed, events, etc. ccad needs donations--with so many kittens and cats in foster care and in the center, funds for food, medical care, supplies, etc., go quickly. i just learned how much it costs to advertise in the bay times (yikes!). they also need volunteers; if you are unable to volunteer with the animals, then anything else you can do would be greatly appreciated. spread the word. anyone looking for a kitten or adult cat, pls check with ccad. they try to take in so many cats and kittens (and dogs) to keep them from going to an almost certain death, and there is a wonderful group of caring individuals working hard to support this organization and take good care of the animals. please help however you can.

This promises to be a hair-raising experience, with all the haircut proceeds donated. For every haircut, Bev's Grooming will donate 4 pounds of cat food. There will be an ice cream truck on hand, 50/50 raffle and cats and dogs there to meet you. So hold off on your haircut until June 6th and come to Barbers on the Bay!!!!
