I have been hearing that none of the Commissioners will be running the next time around. How about you all, have you heard anything on this?

Here's hoping that what you heard is correct...

I would kind of like to see a different person in every single elected County office. Now that would be REAL change!

Deelightful - Amen to that! As to Mike Koval, not sure about that...

Dee Lightful -- what a wonderful idea! Totally agree. Should have been done a long, long time ago!
Eileen -- I know there's controversy there, but I have to say I do admire him for not playing "the" game, and for always telling it like it is. When you play ball with turn coats you come out fighting ... and that's what Mike did. It was a losing battle, sadly and unfortunately.

I can't imagine Ransom not running for re-election. Are you sure about that?

I don't for sure about any of them I was just passing along what was heard. I think that after the recent land ordinance thing that Wargotz, Ransom and Fordinski just introduced and got soundly trounced on, there might just be some truth to it.
But then again I really don't know, just was wondering if anyone had heard anything.

I've heard that rumor about Ransom before, have heard it again recently. Not sure.

I hope Wargotz & Ransom do run again. They have shown the kind of leadership we need around here.

And Dee.... by the way....
The trio on the land-use thing didn't get trounced. They were bullied and stood their ground. I admire that. The measure has some merit and i know many of us are interested in the outcome. Cheers!

I hear Commissioner Ransom has been appointed exec director of a medical organization in baltimore and will serve out his term, but not run again. As for the land-use ordinance, they were not "bullied" as flower states - there were public hearings, the public (farmers) showed up and expressed their concerns and outrage over the taking of their property rights. Public officials should seek the opinion of their constituents and should expect opinions that are contrary to theirs. Lately, our commissioners have sought our input, completely ignored it, and went right ahead doing whatever they wanted to do in the first place.

My husband has been following the land-use matter closer than i have and he tells me that 08-25 has not had any hearings. Eileen, you are mistaken, only public comment has been taken. No hearing on it has been held by the commissioners or planning commissioners.
The commissioners have been listening to the greater interest of the community and we are better off now than before they were elected. My concerns have not been ignored, sorry you feel yours have. I guess we must be on opposite sides of the fence on some things.
Wish that Pipkin was commissioner, then maybe he could get something done. Not much bacon as senator.
Just my opinion having lived here for many decades.

What is the difference between a public hearing and a Planning Commission meeting where public comments are heard (11/13/08)?
The Commissioners had a meeting and said, "this is our plan, what do you think." People stood up and told them what they thought. The Commissioners chose to think about the idea some more.
"trounced," "bullied," "stood their ground?" Not from what I read.

In my view, the Commissioners act just like most poilticians these days.. they think we are subjects and they are royalty. They know better than we do what's good for us.
They have lost sight of the fact they were elected to represent us. Not sit around and dream up things to pass that they perceive as good for the masses.
08-25 and my most favorite annoyance the septic pump out ordinance, are good examples of the insatiable drive by pols to do something to leave a legacy.
I can't help but think about the current stimulus??? spending package passed by a bunch of clueless elitists most of whom admit they never read it..
We don't need 08-25. Mechanisms are already in place to control development based on infrastructure, eg. roads, schools, critical areas, water, sewage.
We certainly did not need the septic tank ordinance. Ridiculous.
Best regards, BC

Wowie....if everyone is that unhappy with the 5 then maybe i'll run! Once in office i can bake cookies, go to ribbon-cuttings, have pictures taken with cub scouts, sports teams and school children. What a cushy job. I can do as you say and avoid all consideration of any important issues such as health of the bay and related notions of too much growth in the future, septic pollution, traffic based on growth, keeping taxes low and other nonsensical things because we don't need to look at these anymore because you all believe someone or some board has band-aided them before and nothing else needs to be done.
Thanks for the ecouragement on the wisdom of the contributors to this forum.

It matters not who the Commissioners are as long as the citizens are not organized for Justice. Any honest citizen elected to office in the sea of corruption known as politics is helpless without massive loud support of the honest citizens.
