Super Skate -- of course!!! ALWAYS there!!! Do you know how many dents I put in that back wall because I could never seem to make that turn to the left down there!! ;D Sorely missed when they closed it down! Wow! ....i really wish somebody could remember those trampolines that used to be on West Street -- past Chinquapin, on the right, I think past those first couple of office buildings. Tons of them, huge, side by side, and all you did was....well, jump! They were blue. Early to mid '60s? Ouch.

We used to skate every Sunday after Church. The Roller Derby girls would come to town once in a while and I think we were @ old annapolis high to watch them? Tough Girls!!!!

Wow.
Gino's, the skating rink, and the trampoline's. I really feel old now, thanks.
What was the name of the pizza joint on West St, next to the Auto parts store? They had a little "jail cell" and arcade inside where we always had our birthday parties.
Anyone remember when 50 was just two lanes in either direction?
I grew up in Edgewater, but spent alot of time in Naptown. I can remember when the Kmart/ Foodlion complex at 2 and 214 was still farms/ forest and we would ride bmx/ motorcross back there....

Wow. OMG -- outdoorsman, are you saying you DO remember those trampolines? ? If so, you just made my day!!! Yes, to 2-lane Route 50! Yes, to 214/2 farmland!! Do you remember Bev's Ice Cream -- yum! Do you remember the little miniature donkey on Riva Road?! I grew up in Riva -- so I'm completely aware of what you're talking about! This is great!

How about Rudy's tavern on Generals Hwy or the Weems Creek Tavern off 50. I remember when you could just drive onto the naval academy on a sunny afternoon to catch some rays on the rocks at the point.

Drive-in theater on forest drive?
I remember taking my parents one day to the Hechingers (Home Depot now) on forest drive across from the Parole plaza. They started talking about the old drive-in theater and seemed to be recalling it with some fond memories and with way more information than I wanted to know....Yikes!
Parents aren't around anymore for me to ask them to check on this. Was a drive-in theater there in the 50's?
How about this for a memory....Dad used to tell me that he always kept beer on the backseat of his car when he was dating my Mom. I have thoughts now that the drive-in and beer combo was probably how I was conceived....another yikes!

Yes to the County Fair at Sandy Point -- lost it's appeal to me when they moved it to Crownsville. Sandy Point was just too cool. That's way to cool about West Street being a dirt road -- wow! I know I heard the area behind the Naval Academy was farmland. And you bet I remember the drive-in theatre pre-Home Depot and pre-Hechingers! Was such a shame when they tore it down. Bands used to play on the roof tops ( ) and the place was packed and wild! Lots of "stuff" going on there ...but for some reasons you couldn't see in the car windows -- like foggy.....but not me!!!!! Am not sure if it was there in the 50's but yes in the late '60s up too.......not sure if it was gone by the early '70s. Anyone? I actually remember Parole being constructed!!! What a huge treat when it was finished!! Bands playing at the National Guard off West Street! Rock-n-Roll! How about when the "new" Riva Bridge was built! Wow, I remember my first trip over I was terrified because it was SOOOO high!!! Still can't do the height thing! ;D ;D

The theatre was still up in the early 80's. We moved here in 1980 and I believe it was closed but the screen was still standing.

I don't think so, I think Hechingers was where the screen was, I don't remember the sreen. There was a theatre where Outback is now though that was open then. the marquee was down by the corner of rte 2 wasn't it?

I do remember the back of the screen faced Forest Drive. There was a platform in front of it where all the bands played (like on the rooftops sort of) and it would have been about where Outback is now. But I can't remember the marque......selective memories!!

The place with the jail cell was buzzy's by the auto parts store. Great pizza with arcade in the day. Burger Chef had the best burgers (and prizes) from what I remembered. I was upset when it was no more. I missed watching Charlie Byrd play (before I appreciated jazz). The Library...the five and dime store downtown. the workboats in ego alley my uncle wrote a book about growing up in Eastport (Riding the Honeysuckle Horse: Growing Up in Annapolis in 40's And Early 50's ) which is stuff before my time. A new book (different author) is out there that my uncle contributed photos to. Can ask my mother what the title is if anyone interested (few pics of my Mom in there ;D ) How about Parole (Britts, the santa, Silver Ball, Erols TV? Shoe Town (across street). Bay Ridge public swimming pool...Rocco's pizza was near which was awesome in the day. I don't remember the drive-in screen in the late 70s or 80s but my memory could have been corrupted by my teen years. Grew up in Mayo and the closest mall was Landover for you youngins (Farrells ruled for b-days).

I do remember the Library, swimming at Bay Ridge pool and in the bay, and Murphy's five and dime, and Charlie Byrd AND all those Mayo bad boys!!!! ;D
Yes, I would definitely love to know what the title of the new book is -- although Riding the Honeysuckle Horse sounds very inviting!!
Not that it's that overly obvious......I am thoroughly enjoying this thread!

Oh, here's another -- anybody hook school the day of the midshipmen's graduation, sneak in the stadium and run out on the field to grab hats when they all threw them up in the air??? HAHAHA!! Had a stash of them but just can't figure out whatever happened to them! What a treasure they were!
