Congrats plungers!
Polar Bear Plunge Charity Event Raises $2.5M For Special Olympics
(WNAV) -- Roughly eleven-thousand people plunged into the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland Saturday for charity. The water temperature was a heart-stopping 34 degrees and the numbing wind-chill factor made it feel more like 25 degrees. Even so, participants in the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge braved the freezing waters and ultimately raised two-and-a-half-million dollars for Special Olympics Maryland. After his plunge, a shivering Governor Martin O'Malley remarked it was cold, very very cold.
