(Thursday 2/12/09) -- The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning and fire alert for Maryland and parts of Virginia and the District of Columbia until midnight tonight. Conditions are right for sustained winds out of the west at 25 to 35 miles an hour, with gusts up to 60. High Winds could topple trees, disrupt power and lead to property damage. Strong winds will combine with low humidities during the day on Thursday to enhance the fire threat across much of Maryland, as well as the District of Columbia.
