Suprised this hasn't made its way on this board. Has everyone heard about the University of Md and this porn they wanted to show? If you haven't www.wjz.com has been covering it well.

The students are adults and can watch any movie they want. What happened to the constitutions first amendment? I support U of M in this. I hope they make a mockery of the lawmakers trying to block it. -DG

If I remember the article correctly, the UM announced (why, I don't know) that they would be showing the film. The MD legislature threw a hissy fit and threatened to cut some funding. The UM decided to cancel the film and the funding was restored. The students chose to show the film themselves and obtained the necessary releases from the film's producers. The film was shown and now the legislature is mulling a law prohibiting the showing of porn in any state-funded facility. So while it would be nice to be able to congratulate the university, it looks like they went into hiding on this one.

It is nonsense to make an issue about showing a movie on a college campus. These "kids" are adults. And it is our "own" Andy Harris who is making a fool of himself.
And I used the term "movie" because nobody has ever been able to explain just exactly what "porn" is. In some people's mind, kissing in public is porn. :-(
We keep voting for the idiots..
Best regards, BC
