Rt#8 & Rt#18....When making a left turn at an intersection you are required by Md. Law to grant the right of way to on coming traffic......This intersection is now controlled by a blinking red arrow for left turns while the light is green. North bound you can see for a 1/2 mile. South bound you can see almost to Rt#50. So why the blinking red arrow?.....Tickets and Revenue #1......At 3am the seat belt jockeys will be watching to make sure your wheels come to a complete stop.

Better than the RED LIGHT that used to be there? Have you seen, or been in a wreck there? There's been plenty.

I would MUCH rather come to a complete stop, and then proceed when safe, then sit through the red light at "3am".
If you don't break the law, then you don't have to worry about the "Seat Belt Jockeys".
Thanks QAC !!!!!!!

I wish they'd bring the blinking red turn signals back to Rt 50 at Rt 213. I freaking hate that light. You sit there for ages before you can turn left onto 213. And in the summer you can sit there for 15 min or longer when they change the timing of the lights due to beach traffic. I still don't know why they changed that. You can see for MILES past that intersection when making a left.

I was on the call for the 8 year old.

My friends..........My point was this.....You must grant right of way to oncoming traffic when making a left turn with or without a blinking red light. There is no reason to come to a complete stop at 3am at that intersection when you're the only car on the road. Traffic devices should be set up for safety, not for a game of mother may I, or a revenue source for the State. Safety and common sense first.

chickennecker11............A seat belt jockey is the cop that is looking for statistics so his supervisor won't take his take home car away from him. It's also against the law to do one mile over the speed limit. Common sense says you don't ticket for one mile over the limit.........Over 260 innocent citizens including 135 who were on death row for murders they did not commit have been released by DNA testing. They were innocent and had nothing to worry about either. Most cops are the good guys, and most cops are not seat belt jockeys.

PS. chickennecker11.........The blinking red light is an arrow controlling left turns only. It blinks when the traffic light on Rt#8 is green, and goes out when the traffic light is red for Rt#8.

I was on the call for the 8 year old. So since a couple people were too stupid to figure out how to yield for oncoming traffic we all get to suffer. When heading east on 50 and making a left onto 213N you can easily see I would guess two miles down Rt 50. There is no excuse for making locals sit there for freaking ever when it is so easy to make the turn safely. They should only resort to solid red turn signals when there are visibility obstructions. That is clearly not the case there. Could you direct me towards whoever I need to talk to with the state to attempt to get that light changed?

Revenue trap...interesting term. Probably has a little truth to it...states gotta make money somehow i guess.....how bout this: Just have police run calls .... no traffic...no speed traps...no seatbelt enforcement. And let's watch the accidents and fatalities in the county go through the roof. Eh, let it be a free for all on the roads in the state......bumper cars it is!! Sounds fun!

It has to be a revenue trap..there is no way that could have to do with the amount of accidents or near accidents at that intersection...is there anything else to you could complain about?
Whats a "seatbelt jockey" ? Someone that looks for seatbelt violations and pulls them over? It is a law correct? Isnt that their job? isnt that how police find alot of suspended drivers and find drugs or alcohol violations?

How about the way a light just south of there operates at Rte 8 and the off-ramp for eastbound 50 during late night? As you approach it from the south on Rte 8 at night, it will turn red, even if there are no other cars approaching from any direction. As I have sat there waiting for no reason, I can't help but wonder if it was programmed that way as a revenue trap, or least generating some late night traffic stops and the inevitable request for permission to search the vehicle.

I believe this one is just malfunctioning, I think the trips are stuck for SB 8 to make a left on to EB 50. It gives the arrow as often as it can when no one is there. I've called every friggin number I can find, including a few found on here. no fix. I could fix it if they'd let me. It's fairly SIMPLE control work. I guess that's why they can't manage to fix it.
