www.wbaltv.com/health/19721217/detail.html?treets=bal&tml=bal_natlbreak&ts=T&tmi=bal_natlbIt's becoming very expensive for smokers to continue to smoke. Speaking from experience. What will they tax next? Beer and Wine, and Cocktails even more? All according to the FDA. Everything above can cause cancer in one way or another, and this is done to reduce healthcare costs. We do not have universal health care like some countries. Isn't America the Land of the Free? And freedom of choice? If someone smokes, likes a drink, etc., why should they tax us even more? To pay for all of the bail outs with the high paying bonuses that they believe they deserve to have? Just Curious, -CG

I used to think "freedom of choice" but I am losing that belief in our country more and more every day....for the past decade, all of our politicians (both parties can easily be blamed, so it is nice that they are bi-partisan in ONE thing, huh???) have found more reasons to step on our rights. We're gonna be protected so well that we won't be able to step outside of our personally, government-assigned bubble wrap soon.

i haven't looked at that link, but figure you are making other people sick with your smoke, you are making everything stinky and dirty with your smoke, and if you get sick, in one way or another i have to pay for your medical bills, for your family, etc. etc. it's similar to those who don't wear a helmet on a bike. i guess you have a right to kill yourself on a bike (but nobody condones suicides, do they), but, hey, what if that somehow causes injury to you or someone else, what if you have no insurance? what if you are incapacitated for the rest of your life? who do you think pays for that? ME. even if you do have insurance, it costs society. there is a much more direct cause and effect between cigarette smoking and illness. not so much with what else you mention. wine is even good for you. you can drink responsibly; you can't smoke responsibly. everyone now knows that smoking is deadly. yeah, it's legal, so i guess you have the right. but just because you can does not mean you should--for yourself and for others. are really paying the prices i hear cigarettes have been going for for many years now? you cannot be serious?!
