I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this already. Iran had its presidential election on Friday. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was announced the winner, but thousands of Iranians--and his opponent--are claiming foul.
This could be huge. If Iran is freed from its theocracy and Ahmadinejad, the world would be a better place. Where would Hezbollah and Hamas be without their financial support from Iran?
Iranians deserve the President they elected. At the very least, the government needs to allow an international coalition to review the election results... or just have another election. If Ahmadinejad's support is as large as the election results and the government claims, having a second election will change nothing.

I hadn't been following it very closely, just enough to hear that Mir-Hossein Mousavi was favored to win the election, yet Mahmoud Ahmadinejad still won by a 63ish% majority? That is ridiculous. I would be crying foul as well. You don't win a closely contested election by that much.
Obama didn't even win by that amount.

The really suspicious part was that Ahmadinejad won by pretty much the same amount *everywhere*, even in Mousavi's hometown.

And we're all surprised....HOW? The Ayatollah Khamenei has ordered an investigation....any bets on a finding of "Ahmadinejad Wins" anyway? Edit: Funnel, you're right; it's pretty unusual to lose in your own HOME DISTRICT..... Yeah, no funny business there.

Maybe the home district results were intentional. Maybe this is the Iranian Govt. saying to the world (again), "Yeah, this is what we're doing. So what are you going to do about it?"
