Not talking about issues causes "negativity" to grow unchecked. Some people would rather sweep things under the rug because they have not been directly affected. Good old boys and freedom of speech don't mix.
All I can say, Guardian, is don't give them a reason to pull you over, and even then you may be harassed. For instance, I advised a teenage girl I know to pull over as soon as she sees a cop on her bumper. She did so; he put on his lights and harassed her about the frame around her license plate. No ticket. I'm sure if she had not pulled over he would have said she was speeding or had gone over the line. This young lady had had her license for less than 2 weeks.
I notice that the QA Co. 300 year commemorative frames block the top of the M in Maryland just like this girl's dealer plate did. I wonder if they will pull over everyone who has one of those? Probably only if a teenage girl is driving. The girl's dad had been driving the car for months and hadn't been stopped.
I know another girl who has been given seven speeding warnings but no tickets. Still another was stopped for doing 80 in a 30 mph zone and not ticketed. This seems counterproductive any way you look at it.
I know all the sheeple will baaa and say I'm being mean, I hate the police, etc. Well, take some more medication and stick your heads back up your rear ends.

Not trying to start any wars or problems. Just concerned over some rumors about political allies getting new patrol cars and special assignments and that the Good 'Ol Boy system is alive and well only with new players. Maybe the county should go to county police department like AA County then the commissioners could enforce policy and make a change in leadership if things are not working out.

Outlaw hits the nail on the head.....................Every car dealership in the State advertises with these brackets. Every K-Mart in the world sells them. They're even on police cars, and fire trucks.
At a recent community meeting in Grasonville, numerous complaints of harassment over dealership license plate brackets were voiced. Every complaint was against the M.S.P., and one Trooper in particular. The citizens that complained were all hardworking taxpayers with clean records.
The next advice to the teenage girl should be to arm yourself with a video camera. THIS STOP MAY BE RECORDED.

Doesn't this crap ever stop! You guys are obsessed with the police. If it bothers you this much, do something about it. Join a militia, run for office, move out of the country, just do somethng other than post endless ramblings. If you're not going to do anything, at least post in a place where other police-haters can congregate. Hers a link for you all: www.ihatepolice.com/

Amazing how someone knows another person's record is "clean".
If there is a problem with an over zealous officer, then address it to his commander. At least with the State Police, action is taken.
From several individuals I know, If you complain about a Deputy all you get is no action, and that is if the department calls you back at all. And if you complain to the Commissioners about the Sheriff's Department, they just tell you there is nothing they can do since he is elected.
I am 100% for going to a County Police Department. All that would have to be done is transfer the Sheriff's Department's budget over the the County Police, leave a few deputies for court duty and serving court papers. At least we would have a person who is charge of law enforcement in our county that has been interviewed and met certain standards. All we have now is a popularity contest in which we hold our breath and hope someone with some sense gets the job.
Enough is enough of this stuff, we need accountability.

These kids aren't going to complain. The cops know that, and that's why they keep pulling them over just to mess with them.
It's true that nothing happens when you complain about a deputy. I sent a complaint in writing to the sheriff and commissioners about an incident not related to traffic. A commissioner said the sheriff would respond; he never did. It doesn't matter because nothing will be done anyway.
It seems they have a lot of problems in AA Co. too, but pretty much any change here would be an improvement.
Blah, blah Frank. You are free to wallow in your apathy and read something else. Just be grateful you're not a teenage girl. Try riding around in a wig and makeup and see how much police action you get.

I know all the sheeple will baaa and say I'm being mean, I hate the police, etc. Well, take some more medication and stick your heads back up your rear ends. Sure sounds negative.... Amazing how the people who are constantly negative on the police view everyone else as the ones who are all conforming (sheeple) when you are the ones whose responses we can predict a light year ahead of time.

Yeah Frank, you sheeperson, stop conforming to the Good 'Ol Boy network and come over to support the police haters club, the free, independent thinkers they are... Outlaw - try following up on a complaint instead of saying "nothing would be done anyway." That's the way this country works, its your right. Try not to squander it by just b&itching and moaning to a group that can't help you anyway.

I was thinking the same thing about your responses, Highlander. You never have anything original to add; you only comment on the complaints of others. By doing so you are also complaining. If you disagree and think the deputies are doing a great job, why not say so.

The deputies are not doing a good job. We are doing a GREAT JOB because we are certified, trained, licensed professionals who provide great public safety. Some people like yourselves will always dislike the police no matter what we did or did not do. The police have done either too much or too little. Blah, Blah, Blah. The police do nothing about the speeding motorists but you get angry when we ticket . Lock up the criminals but just as long as it's not your child or spouse who is the criminal. Rid the community of drugs but don't arrest your family members who are using drugs. It's the same old, same old, same old. But that is ok! I love being a police officer and many of the citizens appreciate what we do even if none of you bone heads do.

Hey Outlaw, you should tell all these high school girls you associate with to slow down. 7 warnings for speeding? 80 in a 30?

Exactly my point, Jason. If they were my kids they wouldn't be driving. Getting pulled over and squirming out of a ticket seems to have become a game with them which the cops should not be participating in. One of them has caused a serious accident.
Waa, waa, still the same old drivel from you, Highlander. I better be off to chase the sheriff around about my complaint, and then I'm going to call Highlander a waa-mbulance.

I don't believe for one moment that a deputy stopped a motorist for doing 50 mph over the posted speed limit (80 in a 30-MPH zone) and only issued a warning. I find that very hard to believe a warning was only issued for that speed. After all us cops are ticket happy or so the writers say! Did you actually observe the written warning with that above speed (80 in a 30) that the deputy issued or are you taking the word of the juvenile? Do you have first hand, direct knowledge of this traffic stop? Were you present in the vehicle with the juvenile when they were stopped by the police? I think it’s a weak attempt to suggest that the police are only pulling over young female juveniles just because they are young female juveniles. It's been known from time to time that a juvenile has bent the truth or embellish a story. Outlaw, what was your issue and complaint about the deputies?

I'm not the one with a problem with a police officer doing their job. still not sure how i'm the complainer when all you do is complain about the police.

As for the original question of this topic;
What is the word on the Sheriff's Office with the new Sheriff
Based on his "promises" before the election and what he has actually done, other than making sure his name is on all of the new cars, I would give him a D-. And that grade is only that high because we in the County have been fortunate enough not to have an event that would really challenge him.
Lord help us if and when we do.
