My family is meeting at my sister's house in Chester, MD for a weekend reunion. I would like to bring my pop-up camper and stay as close as possible. The closest official campground that I have found is Tukahoe State Park in Queene Anne. This is about 28 miles from my sister's house which is not too far away, but mapquest estimates a 42 minute drive. Can anyone recommend a location to spend a few nights which would be closer to Bayside Drive in Chester? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I can't think of any camp grounds that are any closer. I think that there's one up in Chestertown, but that's just as far. Anyone else know?

Tuckahoe is a real nice one. It's worth the drive IMO. Probably no more than 30 min from Chester.
KOA has a campground in Millersville across the bridge. Also probably about 30 minutes

Think I would try beach harbor also. Perhaps Matapeake Park , Queen Anne's County Parks and Rec may be worth a call also. Hope you all have fun too!!!!

Luke, Greetings from Beach Harbor Campers Cooperative. I am the manager here and would love to help you; however, we only have 3 transient spots which are full, except for one briefly in May. More so unfortunate, we do not allow pop-ups. I can guide you to a family-owned campground in Greensboro that I'm sure you will enjoy -- Holiday Park 1-410-482-6797 - approximately the same driving time as it would be from Tuckahoe. And, actually, it's not really a bad drive. Good luck to you! Linda Kraller, Manager Beach Harbor Campers Cooperative www.beach-harbor.commanager@beach-harbor.com Linda

Thanks all for the excellent information. No decision yet, but I am now much more informed of the options.

Luke, More so unfortunate, we do not allow pop-ups. As the manager that should be an easy fix, especially for "transient" spaces. When the no pop ups rule gets changed, I would change the name from "transient" to "short term", it sounds much more inviting.

bchevy, actually, I totally agree. However, I answer to a nine-member Board of Directors, 260 permanent members and their families from Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina, Florida, and elsewhere, (many of which are now third generation) and 40 pages of By-Laws that I must abide by. Transient only refers to coming and going. It is a membership-owned cooperative. We attract full-timers, and campers as far away as California and Washington State and they're are THE greatest people in the world. I would love to see the pop-up part disappear.......and I wish we had an entire section only for "short term" campers who are always welcome!
Take care to all and happy camping!
