There's a lot of criticism of police work for some reason posted. Here's a real story of two officers just doing their job trying to help a citizen and end up being shot. Being shot or shot at is hazardous duty in my book and a lot of these people put their lives on the line every day. Thanks from me for being there.

Two Baltimore City police officers were shot, and a suspect is critically wounded.
Pat Warren reports it happened in West Baltimore Saturday morning as police were searching for a suspect wanted for two domestic violence incidents.
Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld said that around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, a 34-year-old Baltimore man forced his way into a house in the city's northeast side, brandished a gun and threatened a woman. A half-hour later, police received a report of another domestic dispute in the 2400 block of Harlem Avenue on the city's west side, where a woman sustained minor injuries.
Bealefeld said that while an officer was investigating that incident, the suspect -- who turned out to be the same man from the earlier run-in -- called on the woman's cell phone.
The officer urged the man to return to the scene. He did. When he arrived in his sports utility vehicle, Bealefeld said the suspect fired at the officer as he approached. The 42-year-old officer, who has been on the force for three years, was treated for a grazing wound and released from a hospital Saturday, a police spokesman said.
Then, within minutes, another officer spotted the suspect's SUV. Bealefeld said that as the officer pulled up to investigate, the suspect fired numerous shots into the driver's side of the police cruiser. The 44-year-old officer was hit in the abdomen, upper chest and arm.
Despite his injuries, Bealefeld said the officer slid out of the passenger side and fired back, hitting the suspect at least twice.
"After being wounded in the seat of the car, to pull himself out and engage the suspect in a gun battle, I think it says a lot about the kind of men and women in this police department. I'm d**n proud of their work," Baltimore Police Commissioner Fred Bealefeld said.
Another witness took a home video, and various observers say that after the suspect was shot, he was beaten by other officers at the scene.
"They stomped hard with steel-toed boots, just stomping like they wanted him to stop breathing on the ground," witness Kisha Blaze described the scene.
Commissioner Bealefeld says he has no information on the beating but makes no apologies for the outcome of the incident.
"If our men weren't there to stop this maniac, who knows what he would have done to innocent people on the street," Bealefeld.
The 17-year department veteran remained in surgery Saturday afternoon and is expected to survive, Bealefeld said.
The suspect -- who officials did not identify -- is also expected to survive, police spokesman Donny Moses said.
Bealefeld said officials believe the woman at the first house was the man's former girlfriend, and the other woman his current partner.
"He has a pretty extensive arrest history," Bealefeld said. "We know he's been involved in other domestic violence incidents."
