My heart goes out to you Barb! Sully the other kitten at ARF, looks just like your kitten! He's a feisty little kitten when it comes to feeding! He is so protective of his little food bowl in the kitten hotel in ARF with 2 others that will be adopted. Sully is on the ARF Update, on the main page of KIO, I hope he finds a great home like the love that you give to Ashes. Your kitten is so............ adorable, keep up the great loving care that you give your little kitty! -cg

Just a short note. This little kitten passed away at 12:30 a.m from an upper respiratory infection. I took the kitten to the vet on friday because I knew there was something just not right. She was given fluids and antibiotics. Unfortunately she did not survive. I am absolutely devastated. Two days ago she was playing with her jingly ball and following around the dog...I am so upset...At least I know she died loved...in my arms..and not alone. I am still so upset I can't go to bed....sigh...

That is so sad, you did all you can do. You are right, at least she had a home and knew what it was like to be loved and cared for before she died.

Barb, Your story breaks my heart, as I am as much of an animal lover as you are. I read your email this morning, and then this post after we got dad back home. And I teared up again. Tears for you. Remember you did all that you could do, you rescued this kitten, and gave her an extended life,l you also let me know about the other kitten that ARF rescued, thanks to you!Sully is doing very well with his foster mother, and if weren't for you Sully may not be here today. hint hint... You gave Ashes so much love, care, attention, and had Axel help you with Ashes. Axel is a very caring kitten mother for being a German Shepherd. Axel has animal instincts. If only humans could have compassion for life like our animals, our world would be a much better place. I would have felt the same way. My heart felt gratitude to you for trying to make a difference in the rescue lives of so many homeless animals. It is people like you that do make a difference, and I know in my heart that you did the very best from your 20 years of doing this. Ashes is in kitten Heaven with so much yarn to chase, jingle bells, and cat nip. She will always be looking over your shoulder as your kitten angel.

For Barb,
For All that you Did and All that you know, you showed Ashes more than she will ever have known.
This is a poem that I found, and will hopefully give you peace :
Poem For Cats And God asked the feline spirit Are you ready to come home? Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul And, as a cat, I am most able To decide anything for myself
Are you coming then? asked God. Soon, replied the whiskered angel But I must come slowly. For my human friends are troubled. For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God That you'll never leave them? That you souls are intertwined for all eternity? That nothing is created or destroyed? It just is...forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will understand, Replied the glorious cat. For I will whisper into their hearts That I am always with them I just am...forever and ever and ever. Author Unknown
