URGENT! Shadow is out of time!

A friend of mine from college contacted me about a dog she knows of through various rescues who needs help ASAP!!

Hi all. A current PG County shelter favorite finds herself in a very tight spot now that a rescue that's been promising to pick her up for weeks backed out on taking her. She's on borrowed time and we're all on pins and needles trying to find something for her, either through another rescue or an adoptive home. If you are affiliated with any 501 (c) (3) rescues, particularly mastiff or bully breed rescues, and think you might be able to help, please contact me or the shelter directly and ask for the rescue coordinator. If you're considering adoption, call and ask about her immediately. You can leave a message on the shelter line or call tomorrow starting at 10am.

You can read her write up, see her pictures and watch a video of her. In an update, she's learned some basic commands very quickly!

okay, so apparently you need to be a registered facebook user to see her post...

but apparently the shelter was relying on the rescue group, so they put Shadow in the back as "going to rescue" so they could put another dog out on the floor for visitors to see...so she hasn't been viewed by many people, and now is almost out of time!

You don't have to be registered to see her on the Petfinder link that you posted... She would be a great dog for Agility...lolol I hope they find a home for her.

I'm not on face book, so I tried the link for Shadow under petfinder. The link for petfinder doesn't work anymore. I went to PG County site for the shelter, and I couldn't find Shadow there either.......

I hope the dog hasn't been put down, please let me know asap!

She is still with us....if you click the link to the shelter...scroll down the page...she is in one of the adoption ads...

I'm confused? I know you have Ashes, the furry little baby! Do you have Shadow the dog that is going to be put down?

No...what I meant was that she was not put down...she is still on the website for adoption.

I keep trying to click onto the petfinder link, and .... nothing shows up. When I did a search for her earlier today on PG County Animal Rescue, and looked for the animals for adoption, I couldn't find her there either.

Maybe it's my stupid Mac, or maybe, I'm the stupid Mac user, without letting me see some links. ? I was able to see SG68's youtube video, so I am now very frustrated.

Didn't we have a member here at one time named 2Mastiffs? I recall meeting her at Bay Day last year with one of her baby HUGE pups. Hopefully she is still reading this.

Here's the update from Christy:

Hi Melissa,

We have currently received some inquiries but no solid applications yet. Here is a response from the rescue coordinator. Please refer anyone interested to her. Her number is below. We've managed to secure her more time but we need solid apps NOW or those days will be useless. They need to be processed. But a 501 (c) (3) rescue could pull her immediately. Also I spoke to the volunteer that handled her dog aggression testing and she did well with several other dogs:

I spoke to our director, Chief Taylor , this morning in reference to holding Shadow a few more days. He said that would be fine. Poor gal has been here since the 4th of July. She was turned in along with a bunny {who was sent to rescue} because the owners could no longer care for them. The owner actually called back two days later wishing to reclaim her, said they had a friend who wanted her, but they never showed up for her. I had a rescue lined up for her last week, but the foster withdrew at the last moment. It seems like she can’t catch a break! She is a GREAT dog!!! J She is full of energy, but very sweet and pretty. We are open Wed from 11:30a-7:30p. If you own another dog, or there any other household members, please bring with you to make sure they get along. Otherwise, you will be given a few days to take care of everything. Shadow has been tested with other dogs here and passed, but she is young and very energetic and some dogs may not care for her jumping all over them-she’s a happy gal J *Obedience classes would probably be a huge bonus in this department. Has anyone from Shadow's shelter contacted Chesapeake Cats and Dogs, or ARF ? It never hurts to give them a call as they do rescue to save the lives of animals.

If they haven't , please ask them to call and let us know what happens. I'd love to foster, but I have 3 dogs, 1 bird, and an elderly parent. My plate is full.....

I was a little concerned to see you had little time and that you were being talked about in the "adoption and fostering" section...lol.

I hope that the "other" Shadow in this thread finds her forever home, in the meantime.
