1st thing would be a service road south of 50 from route 8 to Cox Neck Rd. to give another option for us locals EVEN when there's not a backup on the highway. Cracker Barrel may have put a glitch in this plan though.
TRY the signage that they have on the Western shore for traffic going through town during a backup, there has to be SOME way to do that. Clogging up the side streets is no the answer.

I think the southern crossing that you are talking about actually would connect Dorchester County (Cambridge) with Calvert County. Not Talbot. But yes, and additional southern crossing for DC area people would be preferable.

I still have no idea why this was never done. I seem to remember that the reason for not doing it was impact on wetlands and the residents of Harbor View didn't want the additional traffic. The southern crossing would mean new roads would have to be built. This would cost wayyy to much money. The cheapest is to add a bridge here and somehow widen route 50. The other problem would be the wetlands in Dorchester County. Kent doesn't want the roads either.

Here we go again, nobody forced anybody to move to the eastern shore and everybody knew that there was a bridge that had to be crossed to get here! Once again any bridge is subject to accidents, disabled vehicles, jumpers, CONSTRUCTION, ect................

Here we go again, nobody forced anybody to move to the eastern shore and everybody knew that there was a bridge that had to be crossed to get here! Once again any bridge is subject to accidents, disabled vehicles, jumpers, CONSTRUCTION, ect................ BUT BUT BUT ALL the roads, EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM, leading to the bridge, from the bridge, and even feeder roads TO those roads HAVE BEEN UPGRADED, EXPANDED, AND IMPROVED. What's been done here in the last 20 or 30 years? NOTHING, NADA, we now have 6 lanes of traffic feeding 5 lanes of bridge. I know I'm not alone in remembering 4 lanes of traffic feeding 5 lanes of bridge IF you build another bridge here, the roads going to it WILL be increased and we will have twice the traffic we have now. The time is long overdue for ANOTHER CROSSING, at ANOTHER LOCATION. Oh wait, we have EZpass, gates on the cables for jumpers to climb over, telephones ON the bridge, and the pink thingys... my bad

I wonder which will relieve the state of more money: Building another bridge, or removing the toll booth?

I wonder which will relieve the state of more money: Building another bridge, or removing the toll booth? Build another bridge! Calvert county to Cambridge would be the next shortest span, and it would relieve probably half the traffic currently using the bridge. All the DC and NOVA traffic would chose that route and lighten our load. Removing the toll booth would do nothing for my commute home through Annapolis. We just need cars using another route to reach the shore.

We just need cars using another route to reach the shore. Now this is an idea I might be able to live with! Some have suggested a bridge from Calvert to Easton Can't seem to figure out how that would work... I'm still wondering what in the world ever happened to the over-passes that were to be built at Rt 50 and Rt 213, Rt 50 and Rt 404 and a proposal for another at Carmichael Road and/or Sportsman's Neck (I think that's the name) just north of the Outlets in Queenstown... It would help the traffic a bit - but the cost in injuries (and lives) would be enormous! "I" vs "It" sorry

I would help the traffic a bit - but the cost in injuries (and lives) would be enormous! Perhaps I need to clarify my point... I was reflecting on the number of accidents and deaths at these intersections over the years... Some of you may not remember, but I lived on Kent Island when I was in high school and there were a number of intersections crossing Rt 50 (yes, on Kent Island.) One of those intersections was at Castle Marina Road... For those of you who were here back then, take a moment and think back to those you knew (or knew of) who died way too young...how long did we complain all those years ago for overpasses? For those of you who were not here (or don't remember,) ask someone - there are still PLENTY people grieving the loss of friends and family... I was simply wondering what ever happened to the planned projects for overpasses at the aforementioned locations...Geeez...
