Well, I do agree that congress has to write laws with a scalpel and not a chainsaw.
I guess it is like pornography. We know it when we see it, but writing the difference between "sick exploitative junk" and "worthwhile documentary" can be difficult.

I think this is going to become a freedom of speech issue somehow.
I also think there will be a whole lot more discussion about this issue in the weeks and months to come.
If you think about it, they can tie any number of things (filming people, animals, hunting, fighting...) to this one case.
We will see.

I think the issue is whether freedom of speech covers selling filmed items of illegal activities, not just the creation of them.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Maybe people wouldn't be so willing to sell these videos if the police investigated all of them for evidence that they were breaking the law?

I think filming it should be legal. However, I believe participating in the cruelty should be illegal. I also believe that if someone knows where animal cruelty is taking place they should also inform the police of all of the details.
