Oh how I know that IA... cause my neighbor is a Ravens fan and my other is a Redskins fan.. It 's soooo funny here where I live. And we still like each other too. I'll be marrying a Redskins fan shortly so I know all about it. As long as she adopts my Ravens as her AFC team I will somehow overlook her unfortunate affection for the Skunks ;D Look, I don't hate the Redskins (although ignorant comments from board members like Necker tilt me in that direction). My comments were that, as a Marylander, I have trouble understanding folks rooting for out-of-state teams. I guess that's because I grew up in Baltimore not in the DC suburbs. My loyalties remain with the teams of Maryland and always will. I do have some freedom to adopt teams like the Caps since MD does not have an NHL team. It hasn't been easy to follow a team with "washington" on their logo but I'm coming around on the Capitals.

Yeah, TYPICAL - I guess the way the Capitals are now playing, has NO influence on you now rooting for the "Washington" team. Why don't you do us (Washington Suburb Brats) all a favor and just stick with the Maryland sports. I know, why don't you start a "Hockey Band" and maybe they can lure a NHL team to Baltimore!! Until then, Go swim with Phelps.

"Shore" terp - I see your choice in screen names mimics your inability to be proud of where you came from or what "Home" team you root for. A name like "Charm City" terp, or "Fells Point" terp, would have been a better choice for a Chickennecker who has migrated across that bridge. Instead, a name like "Shore" anything implies you grew up here or you are a waterman, etc.... Sir, I don't have to and WON'T EVER move back across to that side of the bridge, HOWEVER I WON'T forget WHERE I came from, just to "Fit" in Anywhere. I bet you a Ravens Jersey that if we started an on-line Poll on KIO, and it was HONESTLY answered, the MAJORITY of us would be NECKERS!! Shoot, I think you would sound great as Chickennecker52 ( What you are and something you love - Ray's #)

I will never move back either.
ShoreTerp = UM Grad living on the shore but I'll have to give Chickennecker52 a try and see if I like it. "Charm City Terp" - now I wish I had thought of that one!
Where are you from by the way? My wife-to-be is from Hyattsville

OK, so let's put a little crimp in the Chickennecker vs. Shoreterp drama that is playing out here - let's play a very short game of "password" - I give the clue, CN2/Shoreterp, you respond: WIZARDSRemember, previously the Bullets. By the way CN2, impressive, the word DORK has not been used during your banter with Shoreterp

It appears a cease fire has been called between CN2 and myself so I will respectfully obstain from the password game for now.
My guess would be 75% or higher of folks on this board were not born on the shore...

CN2 and Shoreterp - cool, went to school and grew up some in those areas myself - lived the good life in Kirkwood Apartments over by Queens Chapel Rd, only until age of 6 but stilll counts - spent some time at DeMatha, and hung out some in the Brentwood/Riverdale/Hyattsville areas. Now that would be a true Chickennecker ;D
Glad to see the peace!
By the way I don't care whether your a 'skins or Raven's fan and from Maryland, as long as you stick to your allegiance. It sounds like we are life long fans of either.

*grins* I...was born in....Bethesda, MD (fo' rizzle!!) !! Lived in the Annapolis area for a while, moved to Arlington, VA then Springfield, VA., moved again to Tennessee (a/k/a Hell), and was FINALLY freed and came RUNNING back to MD. Lived in B'more Co. in a really nice place for a few years and then inherited our house here on KI from a relative that was the builder/owner of the 5th house in Bay City. And I'm not leavin' unless it's in a bag...or pieces!!! LOL! I can be chikin nekker now? Please? And...I'm with ya S1...doesn't matter to me who your team is....if you are a fan....support em with all of your heart. Even in the bad times....but never lose your sense of humor....it just makes a bad situation....even worse.

Moved to College Park/Greenbelt/Beltsville through college and some years after I graduated. Then to Crofton, then thank God I came over to the beautiful eastern shore. My parents have been over here for 20+ years so that had a lot to do with how I ended up over here. We really should have a separate chickennecker thread. Oh mods? ?

I was born in Florida, moved to Takoma Park MD when I was 3 weeks old, lived in Germany for a year and half when I was 4, moved to Beltsville when I was 11, moved to Laurel when I was 30, and moved to Grasonville 7 years ago.
And I am a PROUD REDSKINS FAN (regardless of how bad they suck right now) ;D

i'll play. born in germany (not german, not us), grew up in NYC, lived in sc, lived in mass, lived in west berlin for 7 years, came to maryland, have lived on ki for 32 years.
LONG-time fan of the steelers and the bills (go figure). also root for the jets and new england.
became a fan of the skins, and root for them in nfc games.
was a fan of the colts. eventually became a fan of the ravens.
generally my fandom does not interfere with cheering on the skins, although things have not been going well at all. i don't blame the team and coach so much as snyder & co.

Well... since everyone is going into their life history. I was born in PG county (MD) moved to Anne Arundel County when I was 5. Stayed there till I was married in 1989 and have been here on the shore ever since, which is 20 years. I feel old!

At this point, the only thing I can think is that Snyder is so delusional that he doesn't realize what he is actually saying. Just because he says it, doesn't make it so. He can think that he can pass the blame, but it still comes back to his desperate need to interfere with the running of a business that he doesn't understand, so much so that I have to wonder how long it will take to bring this team out of the toilet after a decade of mismanagement. (See, "Baltimore Orioles" and "Peter Angelos", as a reference) I really feel sorry for the players. Snyder is such a @$$-wad. There is only so much you can do when you work for a moron like this guy.

Good article in the Nov 12 issue of Rolling Stone How To Wreck a Team "The NFL's worst owner, Daniel Snyder, has ruined the Redskins, one of the most storied franchises in sports."
They nailed it!

This is a classic from Fox Sports today:
There will be a tie this season Sure, the NFL has only had four draws in the past 20 years, but upon looking ahead to the Redskins-Raiders game on Dec. 13, it's fairly obvious the only possible outcome is a 5-5 tie. After the game, Al Davis tells Danny Snyder that he is HIS FATHER (and does so while imitating James Earl Jones) while muttering something about destiny and the dark side. Jim Zorn is then swapped for Tom Cable in the first coaching trade in NFL history. And you know what the crazy part is? This scenario has a better chance of happening than the world coming to an end in 2012.
