Two interesting things in "Inside Radio" today - It looks like old fashioned radio is here to stay and is morphing to the web as well: [glow=green,2,300]iPods distract, but don't destroy.[/glow] The fear that iPods and iPhones would have Americans abandoning radio is turning out to be unfounded. While 14% of respondents to the Arbitron-Edison Research study say theyre listening to less radio because of their MP3 player -- nearly a quarter report its had no impact.
[glow=green,2,300] Online radio hits 17%.[/glow] That's what percentage of Americans listened to an online radio station in the previous week according to the Edison Research-Arbitron Infinite Dial study. The report finds programming diversity and control are whats attracting listeners.
I'm still working on an online radio station for KIO - The main hurdle is the cost. It's about $400 a month for the service and ASCAP/BMI fees.

I just contacted my XM satellite radio guys the other day and told them I did not want to renew the service.. Why? I originally bought XM service so I could listen to NASCAR when I was out and about. And then, shortly after I got it they lost the contract with NASCAR to Sirius. And then, Jack radio took over 102.7 on the FM dial. I find myself listening to Jack virtually all the time. In my view, great radio station. Best regards, BC
